-Welcome to the 2012 London Commercial Games.......
I have no interest in any of the "events" surrounding it or the wall to wall coverage I'll probably have to endure when it eventually starts. Might be a good time to leave the UK on a holiday....

-It's a bit of a joke really as the parade seems from your pictures to be blocked from the front by a massive truck (and many a cop car I'd bet), the back by cops, and anyone who goes anywhere near the actual parade gets tackled to the ground by the police. Doesn't leave much scope for involvement...
Whilst it might be reasonable for the police to claim they were just demonstrating the Olympic wrestling, I'm fairly sure 2 on 1 doesn't count as a sport

-Indeed, wall to wall cops, not so many that I couldn't bag myself a souvenir on the way home from the pub though ;)

I take it everyone will notice the RN are having a bit of a p*sstake come inter service banter over the RAF rescue Seaking dropping in to a beach for 3 chocolate and 1 white Chocolate Magnums from some cafe. That was in all the papers...

-I love that photo! 771 sqdrn if i'm not mistaken!
They are a great bunch! When I did my first solo in 2004 a crew from 771 congratulated me over the radio! :) About a year later a crew from 771 was flying around locally with not much to do radioed in to us at truro and asked if they could give us abit of a display, so we of course was delighted!
Great crew and a valuable part of the Royal Navy.

-@EGTC
They certainly sound like top blokes, and a definite credit to the Navy! It's a shame all public services don't follow their lead, they are a shining example.

-Saw some of the torches on ebay, £50,000.00 reserve, a couple at £100,000.00+

They sure are. When I lived in Cornwall they appeared on TV alot, especially after they have had a night of saving fishermen caught up in gales etc. They do seem to get alot of respect and support from the public and they do alot of good PR for themselves like with the stuff I listed above.
I think Culdrose seems like a good place and workforce in general though. I spent most of my flights down there talking to Culdrose and their ATC were always great and helpful. Also a jetstream pilot was on a course for car maintenance with my mum and he got the whole class a tour of the Merlin maintenance and training facility at Culdrose, I was allowed to tag along and a Merlin instructor took us for a flight in the merlin simulator.
Can't speak highly enough of all the RN personnel at RNAS Culdrose.

-Are they the ones with the Ace of Clubs on their fusilarge, if so, have you seen their publicity photo of their helo with it's Starboard wheel "Resting" on a rock?. If not, and it's a great photo, just drop their PR person a line and they will send you one.
I had the first one when I was in the Force, and then within the month, everyone in our nick had one.
They are in a way, the unsung heroes.;)

I've not seen that photo, but it sounds pretty smart! I will send them an e-mail and ask about it!
Sounds like it did the trick PR-wise. :)

-EGTC. It was not just any old rock, it was tall and came to a point at the top, and his wheel is right spot on the point, That sure is some skill to do that in anyones book.BTW, at the time their PR person was a ladt Officer, although it's many yrs ago, I am sure they will still use it as a PR job,

-Seem to remember they lifted a grand piano, candelabra, a stool and a crewman in tails up onto a pinnacle in Norway, by Puma I think, then hovered off it and took some pics if him playing lol

-EGTC. I havn't a clue as to what rock it was, but when you email them, they may tell you if you ask them. It must be at the very least just over 20 yrs or so when I was sent mine.

Not that interested myself, but it did turn out to be a spectacular pi$$ up at the pub seeing as it went on right outside.
As ever the Olympics are bought to you by a wide variety of sponsors
for those that are interested, I was drinking Kronenberg with JD chasers
