      Hi All,
Nine Lives (Via Talking Pictures channel on Sky) Classic 1943 war film still watchable even though of it's time if your into the genre.....

      Starring:-Jack Lambert,Gordon Jackson,Frederick Piper,Grant Sutherland,Bill Blewitt,Eric Micklewood,John Varley,Jack Horsman,Richard Wilkinson,
Crawford Giulio Finzi and Fred Griffiths.

In a barrack room at a Battle Training Ground in England, a platoon of conscripts are complaining about blisters and are impatient to get into action with
the enemy. Sergeant Jack Watson tells them that they need a little bit extra to be successful in combat, which he illustrates with a story from his previous
experience in the Western Desert Campaign.

His story is then shown in flashback. Lieutenant Crawford, Sergeant Watson and the seven men under their command are travelling through the Libyan
desert in an Allied convoy, when their lorry becomes stuck in the sand and the convoy moves on without them. They are attacked by German aircraft, injuring Crawford and Johnson and setting fire to the lorry. They come across a derelict hut. Lieutenant Crawford orders them to hold out there until help arrives, but then dies. With only a limited supply of ammunition and their own wits to help them survive, they are then besieged by Italian troops.

There were so many of these moral boosting films made during WWII, often with the same cast members.
Gordon Jackson must have made a few. A lot of them are still quite watchable.

The Way Ahead (Via Talking Pictures channel on Sky) Another classic 1944 war film with early rolls for later household names of stage and screen, still watchable even though of it's time if your into the genre.....

Lt. Jim Perry (David Niven) is assigned to train a seemingly hopeless group of civilian recruits into professional soldiers. They are physically weak and
mentally reluctant, and, when Perry proves to be a strict disciplinarian, they become resentful. Perry persists, however, and is eventually able to instill a
sense of camaraderie in soldiers like Pvts. Ted Brewer (Stanley Holloway) and Evans Lloyd (James Donald). The true test comes when the regiment is sent
to battle the Nazis in North Africa.

A lot of these films are available on YouTube.
There is another film I seem to recall, with the same or similar cast as "The Way Ahead" (?)

                  Hi All,
Das Boot-Directors cut (Va the History channel)This 4Hr monster (Dubbed English)passes quite quickly although it has it's quite moments but you can definitely get a claustrophobic feel of a submariner if you can get into the film. I will admit the original in German was the first time I watched it and prefer
that as with the dubbed English it feels a bit fake as at times the dub doesn't match convincingly but on the whole an excellent film to watch.....

A German submarine patrols the Atlantic Ocean during World War II, manned by a crew that must contend with tense conflicts and long stretches of
confined boredom. While war correspondent Werner (Herbert Grnemeyer) observes day-to-day life aboard the U-boat, the grizzled captain
(Jrgen Prochnow) struggles to maintain his own motivation as he attempts to keep the ship's morale up in the face of fierce battles, intense storms and
                  dwindling supplies.

Daz - I remember at the time of it's release it had nothing but positive reviews but in either language or version of which there are four it's still
worth watching by any standard, especially as it's view from the apposing side in the conflict and does show the frustration with Hitler......

This Is Spinal Tap via (Sky Cinema -Returning Favourite) Just an enjoyable mocumentary romp through the lives of a fictional bands life on the road

trying to influence a new look for the band with costumes and face paint scenes,Not finding the stage,The 18" Stonehenge model stage prop lowering,
The empty album signing promotion and the D'minor trilogy-Lick My Love Pump.....

hangers-on and historians, sessions, release events and those special behind-the-scenes moments that keep it all real.

                                      Hi All,
Millenium 1989 (Via Talking Pictures channel on Sky) This Sci-Fi film admittedly rather dated now but at the I first watched I thought it was a decent
film, today it seems to be just a run of the mill B-Movie but enjoyable just the same just at the start of the CGI revolution that followed on from Star Wars...

                                      Starring:-Kris Kristofferson,Jamie Shannon,Cheryl Ladd,Daniel J. Travanti,Robert Joy,Lloyd Bochner,Brent Carver,David McIlwraith,Maury Chaykin,
Al Waxman,Lawrence Dane and Thomas Hauff.

Two jetliners collide, and Bill Smith (Kris Kristofferson) is put in charge of investigating the accident. But something isn't adding up about the crash -- from
the strange comments on the flight recorder to the unidentifiable object found in the wreckage. What Smith doesn't know is that time travellers have
taken the ill-fated passengers to repopulate the future. To ensure their mission's success, they send a gorgeous operative, Louise (Cheryl Ladd), to the
                                      past to hamper Smith's work.

After Dr. Clint Reed (Richard Widmark) is called in to supervise an autopsy of a unknown man, he discovers that the John Doe died of pneumonic plague.
Revealing his discovery to the mayor and city officials, Reed is informed that he has 48 hours before the public will be told about a potential outbreak.
Joined by Captain Tom Warren (Paul Douglas) and his wife, Nancy (Barbara Bel Geddes), Reed must race against time to find out where the unknown man
                                          came from.
