I watched the first five minutes of this, and it looked like being the typical American war film, with lots of blood and explosions in slow motion.
I shall have to watch all of it, before forming an opinion.

I also watched the first couple of minutes of La La Land. I don't think I will bother watching the rest of it

You should persevere with Hacksaw Ridge. The first hour of the film contains no combat at all
and focuses on the main character from boy to recruit. The ending, if you didn't know was a true story,
you would not believe (although I gather time compression makes it more dramatic than it was).

        Bone Tomahawk

A weird, weird, weird cow boy film but definitely worth watching.
After watching I'm still not sure if the film works. But it's certainly different.

While not technically the last thing I've seen, I enjoyed The Crown.
Paints HRH QE the deuce, in a favorable light with her " duty comes first" attitude.

          Lots of aeroplanes as well.
If someone is interested, they could start a thread in Historic Aviation.
There are two sides to every story. The truth is usually somewhere between the two.

Passengers, rather good.... liked his logic too, woken up 90 odd years early, 30 years from earth, what does a man really need but a hot chick..... better than shopping at Iceland, browse the freezer section and pick one.

Hidden Figures, based on the true story of three black female mathematicians who were employed at NASA in the 1950's as female Computers to calculate all the trajectories etc and their fight to be recognised... this in a time of racial segregation.
Fascinating tale and really well put together.. Kevin Costner stars.

Yes I agree, very good film. Much better than I expected.

As was the remake of The Magnificent Seven I watched the other day.

As it has been a tad wintry where I live, and the Pentland Hills have slowly turned into the Austrian Alps, I decided to watch this:

Watched Hidden Figures last night. Well worth watching.

The incredible untold story of Katherine G. Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan and Mary Jackson - brilliant African-American women working at NASA, who served as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in history: the launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit, a stunning achievement that restored the nation's confidence, turned around the Space Race, and galvanized the world. The visionary trio crossed all gender and race lines to inspire generations to dream big.

                        Hi All,
Last night I watched the Biopic film They Flew Alone ( Via BBCi available until 25/03 ) the Amy Johnston story but also dedicated to others early fliers of her ilk and the ATA. Not to bad of it's time really the only real noticeable problem was Amy Johnsons Yorkshire accent seemed to keep changing through out the film from really thick Ee-by-gum to Buck house posh..

                        Starring:- Anna Neagle,Robert Newton,Edward Chapman,Joan Kemp-Welch,Nora Swinburne,Charles Carson,Brefni O'Rorke,Muriel George and Martita Hunt.

Amy Johnson achieved world-wide fame as one of Britain's best-loved pilots. She set numerous long distance records in the 1930s, both alone and with pilot Jim Mollison

Battle for Sevestapol, true story about the one of the highest scoring female Russian sniper (in Russian with subtitles, ) but a cracking story.

                              Hi All,
I watched the kids animation film 'Angry Birds' via (Sky Cinema) I found it quite funny in places as adults can relate to some jokes that kids wouldn't get, just a good take your brain out and watch film (In my case not that difficult)......

Find out why the birds are so angry. When an island populated by happy, flightless birds is visited by mysterious green piggies, it's up to three unlikely outcasts - Red, Chuck and Bomb - to figure out what the pigs are up to.

                              Geoff.

Got panned by the critiques but I rather liked it. Made a change from the usual war film.

I saw John Wick chapter 2 and it lacks a plot the first one had, while the shooting is just silly.

I went to Fist Fight and Batman- Lego Movie.
Fist Fight turned out to be a moral story with more serious message than I imagined, while the Lego movie is not really for kids.
The humor is way over a childs head.
