    Geoff

An American Werewolf in London and The Howling were staples of my childhood! No werewolf film since then, except maybe Dog Soldiers or The Wolfman, has come anywhere near them!

Anyway, the last couple of films I watched were First Blood and Rambo: First Blood Part 2. The first is an underrated classic - rather more of an intelligent film compared to the others, but still full of rip-roaring action. And, if anyone ever tells you Stallone can't act, just tell them to watch the last five minutes of this film!

The second is where the franchise went more into "lone hero" mode. It's still a fun watch, however.

      Hi All,
Watched a real good Canadian tourist board film called 'The Frankenstein Theory' absolute garbage nuff said.... What could have been a good film was ruined by the drawn out story about the film crew following a scientist on his quest for 'Frankenstein' who only makes an appearance at the very end not recommended but hey just try and watch it your self.

      Starring:-Kris Lemche,Joe Egender,Timothy V. Murphy,Eric Zuckerman,Brian Henderson,Christine Lakin,Heather Stephens,Luke Geissbuhler and Roger Morrissey.

From the makers of The Last Exorcism comes a boldly original vision of horror. What if the most chilling novel of all time was actually based on a true account of a horrific experiment gone awry? When he is suspended from his university job for his outlandish ideas, Professor John Venkenheim leads a documentary film crew to the rim of the Arctic Circle in a desperate effort to vindicate his academic reputation. His theory: Mary Shelley's ghastly story, "Frankenstein," is, in fact, a work of non-fiction disguised as fantasy. In the vast, frozen wilderness, Venkenheim and his team search for the legendary monster, a creature mired in mystery and drenched in blood. What they find is an unspeakable truth more terrifying than any fiction...a nightmare from which there is no waking. (Courtesy of Image Entertainment)

        Starring:-John Jarratt,Cassandra Magrath,Kestie Morassi,Nathan Phillips,Guy O'Donnell,Geoff Revell,Andy McPhee,Aaron Sterns,Michael Moody,Gordon Poole
        Guy Petersen and Jenny Starvall.

Three backpackers travel into the Australian Outback, only to find themselves stranded at Wolf Creek crater. Once there they are encountered by a bushman, Mick Taylor, who offers them a ride back to his place. Little do the three know that their adventure into the Outback, would be a complete nightmare after the backpackers find a way to escape.

          Rambo III

Stallone goes to Afghanistan to fight the Russkies. Good fun, if nothing else.

          Rambo

The fourth installment sees John Rambo in Burma, fighting to save a group of missionaries who have been captured by the bloodthirsty militia. Gruesome, but a great flick.

            Hi All'
Watched 'Wolf Creek 2' via the (Horror Channel-Sky) much better than the first one (Obviously a bigger budget) great beginning then slows a bit concentrating on the German victims, then it all kicks off again even a little bit of ('Steven Spielberg's -Duel) in the film but on the whole very watchable right to the end..... Don't forget Wolf Creek the tv series starts tonight on FOX at 10.00pm via Sky

            Starring:- John Jarratt,Ryan Corr,Shannon Ashlyn,Phillipe Klaus,Shane Connor,Ben Gerrard,Gerard Kennedy,Annie Byron and Jordan Cowan.

"Wolf Creek 2" isn't much different than "Wolf Creek," but it is markedly worse. In the Australian-set slasher sequel, writer/director Greg McLean's focus shifts from clueless tourists to outback baddy Mick Taylor (John Jarratt), the original film's hickish serial-killer antagonist. In an introductory, pre-credits scene, McLean re-introduces us to Mick. He's a hateful parody of the chauvinism inherent in Paul Hogan's Crocodile Dundee character (also named Mick). After being threatened with a ticket, he blows out a young policeman's brains, then guts, and burns alive an older cop. This initial scene is effectively gross because McLean ("Wolf Creek," "Rogue") knows how to build suspense visually. He's a technically accomplished storyteller. The problem is that both "Wolf Creek" films are grounded in ugly and maddeningly indistinct stories. (Courtesy of http://www.rogerebert.com/reviews/wolf-creek-2-2014)

              Dog Soldiers

A group of British squaddies go into the Scottish Highlands on a routine training mission, only to find themselves up against an enemy they've never encountered before.

              Gruesome, scary, and bloody hilarious.

                Hi All,
                DazDaMan,
I watched that film a while ago and thought it was good also...

                Right then back on track!!

I watched 'Suffragette' last night and while concentrating on a side character based on a mix of the real Edith Garrud & Edith New and not the main heroine of the 'Suffragette' movement Mrs Pankhurst it does bring home what women have gone through to have equal rights. I would recommend women promote this as it may well get some of the younger generation a bit wiser as to the freedoms they have now compared to when this film was set.

In my opinion instead of getting pissed up at the weekend and acting like tarts as some do thus making a mockery of everything women like the 'Edith Garrud and Edith New' fought and died for to say the least they may actually learn something about themselves. The film certainly opened my eyes to their plight, I knew about the movement but to imagine coppers actually beating with truncheons women to the floor just because they want to be treated equally turns my stomach. Yet you could argue the fact that some modern women act like the above they earned that right through the suffragette movement ?

In early 20th-century Britain, the growing suffragette movement forever changes the life of working wife and mother Maud Watts (Carey Mulligan). Galvanized by political activist Emmeline Pankhurst (Meryl Streep), Watts joins a diverse group of women who fight for equality and the right to vote. Faced with increasing police action, Maud and her dedicated suffragettes must play a dangerous game of cat-and-mouse, risking their jobs, homes, family and lives for a just cause.

Starring:- Carey Mulligan,Helena Bonham Carter,Meryl Streep,Natalie Press,Anne-Marie Duff,Romola Garai,Ben Whishaw Gleeson West as Benedict and Adrian Schiller. All characters aside from Pankhurst, Davison, Lloyd George and King George V are fictitious.

                    V For Vendetta

Masked vigilante with superhuman skills and abilities decides to take on the Fascist British government. A very under-rated film.

                    Jaws

On ITV4 the other night. I have it on DVD and blu-ray, but when it's on TV it has to be watched!

                    Die Hard

A soldier turns up at the parents house of a lost son.
Then things change, for the worse.
See it. Very unusual black comedy thriller.

                        Dangerous Moonlight

Wartime romantic drama about a Polish pilot cum concert pianist who longs to get back to fighting against the enemy, even if it means sacrificing his marriage to do it.

Not bad. Some good flying shots in it.

The original crew of the starship Enterprise boldly goes on various adventures around the galaxy. Wrath of Khan is the best one, by far.

Watched 'Hyena Road' via (Sky Cinema) not to shabby really it is what it is a war film drama only criticism would be the use of CGI blood not a big fan of it at all practical fake blood is much better as for realism, having said that I enjoyed the film which is what it's all about. One word of caution if you do take a gander at it do not expect a balls to the wall war film as it's not, just has it's moments mixed with the drama and tension that comes along with it...

                                      Starring:-Paul Gross,Rossif Sutherland,Clark Johnson,Allan Hawco,Christine Horne,David Richmond Peck,Jennifer Pudavick,Aqqalu Meekis and Neamat Arghandabi.

Three men, three different paths, caught in conflict but brought together to save lives: a highly skilled sniper who can't think of his targets as human; an intelligence officer who has never killed while on duty; and a legendary Afghan warrior who left war behind but gets pulled back to battle.

                                          Hi All,
Daz - Loved both new 'Star Trek' films just as much as all the series & films that followed can't wait to see Star Trek Beyond when it hits Sky....

I watched 'POD' via (Sky Cinema) last night, a low budget short more psychological Sci-Fi than anything only six actors, The three siblings
(main characters)-A boyfriend (literally a few seconds on screen at the girls house)-A government spook and the alien. All takes place in the same location for the majority of the film when the brother and sister arrive at their brother cabin... Nothing spectacular rather relying on the acting which if honest was a bit wooden but as with 'Hyena Road' it is what it is either you like it or not, I would say watchable if your into Sci-Fi...

                                          Starring:-Lauren Ashley Carter,Dean Cates,Brian Morvant,Larry Fessenden and John Weselcouch.

Lyla and Ed rush to their family cabin to stage an intervention for their brother. When they arrive he is in an apparent episode of psychosis and claims to have a monster trapped in the basement.
