-"If no buyer is found, the Sport will be the first UK national newspaper to close since the demise of News International's Today in November 1995."
This - a national newspaper???? News about what???
Hollyoaks/Big Brother/XFactor??? Did anybody actually buy it? If they did, they certainly didn't need to read the thing!!!

By that reckoning, Viz must also be a national newspaper.
The news content is about the same in both instances.

-I'd argue that Viz has a far greater cultural significance..

-I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did. Saw one at work (honestly) a while ago with a big, prominent "2p!" next to the masthead. Clearly intended to look like some special one-day promotion, except that underneath in the most miniscule font it said "Get 2p off your next Sport" Must have caused all kinds of fun and games at the till, but a strange trick to play on your paying punters (hesitate to use the word "Reader")

I would not disagree with you.

-About time. It was a rubbish paper anyway, certainly not one to read if you wanted 'real' news.

-i never buy newspapers for many reasons
1 many years ago i read front cover about the etheopian famine , back cover footballer transfered for x number of millions
back then as a young chap i thaught the worlds *******in nuts and screwed up and no longer take an intrest unless it directly effects me
but to be honnest why waste money on the sport when for a little extra you could buy a porn mag after all i'm old enough ( and it probably has better news articles )
after all everybody knows you're buying it to look at t*t* so where's the stigma of buying a porn mag ???

-In it's early days, the Sport reporting (On Football anyway) was actually pretty good.
However, "Lancaster Bomber found on Moon"; sums up the target audience.
I would take the Sport and the Morning Star on the Train to London, just to see if anybody reacted. Nope.

-yep it wasn't very good at news and not very good at porn !!

-No one in their right minds liked it anywhere, in my opinion it was a total waste of paper.

-I think you are all missing the point. They were not meant to be anything other than a joke with some tittilation thrown in for good measure, as well as a nod to sport. There was a good documentary a few ago about the papers including interviews with David Sullivan and a lot of Tony Livesey. The very last thing they were intended to be were "newspapers".
I think Tony Livesey now presents a programme on Radio 5, so that says it all really...........

Good point. Often thought the same about those "Lads Mags" Amuses me to hear people sneer at honest porn whilst pretending they only buy "Nuts" and suchlike for the humour and gadget reviews.

When ever I go lap dancing I get told not to wear big boots and get off my partner's lap, the bruises last for ages.
