Maurice Kirk, the self-styled 'Flying Vet' has at last been able to start the rebuild of his battered G-KIRK. The globe-trotting Cub flew to Australia in 2001, but finally ran out of luck in Japan in 2005, when Kirk forced landed on a street, ending in a violent embrace with a truck.
The Cub was held by Japanese authorities, whilst Kirk rallied support for a rebuild in the USA. It was shipped to New Jersey early in May, and trucked to Freeport,Maine. The rebuild is expected to take a year, but Kirk is hoping an earlier completion.
' I am getting itchy feet' he says.
