-Thought that Exeter was bad for stored airliners. Think that the 747 in the photo is missing two engines. Lots of Bae146s there too.

Noticed with the parking that only one person managed to park into wind (what there was).
That was quite funny. I did ask to use the grass but they told me they would rather have me on the tarmac. Needless to say, the Rearwin "don't want to use the wheels too much, tyres cost money" landing meant I was stopped by the first exit so they taxied me in the other way and parked me there.
You were right, it was cold but my heater is currently stuck on. I amy fix it sometime in the spring.

-Interesting point about the Chippie. It was designed and built in a cold place (Downsview, Ontario) and they fitted a way to get fresh air in if the greenhouse got too hot but no way to get it warm if it was cold. Just goes to show that just because you can design a great aircraft doesn't mean you get everything right.

-We obviously used to operate the Wessex with the door open most of the time, unless we were transiting, which if you were doing fairly mundane handling got a bit chilly (the 100mph wind chill generator on top didn't help!)
If we were doing intense handling such as Underslung loads, slope-side landings or confined areas, it could be -10 and you could have sweat pouring off you!
The Wessex had a cabin heater, but it was extremely intense, made the cabin very stuffy and tended to make passengers sick, so it was rarely used....

-Chipmunk WK559 (N559WK) has a heater. I couldn't tell you when it was fitted though.
The heater was not much comfort to me as the outside air temperature was pretty close to 40 deg Centigrade when I flew her.

-The Chipmunk had recently been imported from Canada to Virginia. I was flying it from Virginia to Oshkosh in July.
It was 40 C, the canopy was back and I was stripped to the waist! It was swealtering. It was so hot I was able to take the carb heat OFF on the Chipmunk in cruise. Now that is rare.

Its not mine, but belongs to a friend (I just go along for the ride and for added ballast) and it lives at Eggesford in Devon along with another one and lots and lots of Austers.

Went to Kemble today in the Chipmunk and had a lovely time (except am now sitting by the fire as it was sooooo cold.....where's the heater in a Chippie?).
Very well organised and people very helpful and friendly. Must make a visit again in the new year. Lot of people braved the winter air to take part, saw a few people havent seen for ages, which was good.
Noticed with the parking that only one person managed to park into wind (what there was).
