I have been tasked with creating a flight plan from Heathrow to Glasgow airport that must be financially expeditious and fuel efficient, the SID i have chosen is Compton as this then allows to stay on one bearing all the way to Glasgow airport by staying on track of one of the solid blue lines (by the way could someone explain what these are please), on this track it passes through Honiley VOR but then there is quite a large distance not passing through any VOR until it reaches Deans Cross then onto Glasgow. So in my flight log it would look like this EGLL 133.6, CPT 90(Y) 114.35, HON 83(Y) 113.65, DCS 99 115.2, EGPF 129.57 As you can tell im new to this and would appreciate any advice you could offer, is it acceptable not to pass through any VOR for such a large distance? Also i am using Skyvector.com for the use of my aviation chart. Thanks.
