A light aircraft has crashed in a field in Bedfordshire after a mid-air collision.

Emergency services have been called to the scene near Tempsford, close to the border with Cambridgeshire.

Police were called at 8.30am this morning, when there was a mid-air collision between two light aircraft. Both are thought to be single-seaters.

One of the aircraft was able to carry on flying and land safely at Thurleigh airfield, but the other has crashed.

The Air Accident Investigation Board has been notified.

The Barford Road is currently closed to traffic, it is not yet known if anyone has been injured.
