-If you can't land an aircraft yet, you want to spend a few days over the Summer researching how the ILS works. When you know how, you will becomed hooked to Flight Simulator (like me). I only got to grips with the Instrument Landing System in the past 4 or 5 months and since then, I've used Flight Simulator every day! :o
I'm currently practicing visual approaches now. They are slightly tougher, but when you've strong winds on approach, I tend to use them more, otherwise I seem to end up on a taxiway!
But MANAIRPORTMAD, well done on your first landing. Keep us up to date with screenshots of any trips you make next time.
I was really disappointed this evening after flying a Lufthansa A300 from Heathrow to Cologne in about 55 minutes. Unfortunately, I was flying in 'real time' I guess you could say. I set the clock to what the time was (about 8.30pm) and on approach, the local time was near enough 10.30pm, so it was pitch black. I was going to grab a few screenshots of the approach using the replay feature and changed the time/season to daytime. I was careless enough to forget that any replays would be lost if I changed the time of day. Now I'm sulking over it.

-Congratulations :D I know how it feels to be driven mad by the ILS in FS2002, all the instructions in the tutorials I downloaded gave different advice and it wasn't until I downloaded an actual flight on final approach that I cracked it. I promptly decided to get more practice and then started joining VAs. I don't do many visual approaches, usually if I do it's when I'm flying the Loganair routes with the Twin Otter for British Airways Virtual (best one is Benbecula to Barra with that landing on Barra beach :D )

-Good one Matt :)
Now see if you can do the ILS with those instructions i sent you. Hope they were not too complicated....:D

-I researched for hours on end to see how to use the ILS and I found that all the online tutorials to be ridiculous. They all gave far too much information about how to use it, much more than was necessary!
I can't believe how easy it is.

-Nice one Matt. A great feeling after 20-30 attempts of landing a 747, you finally land it!!

-Well Done Matt! :D
I remember feeling really pleased with myself when I finally landed the 747 properly! Remeber the more practise the better.. The 744 is certainly the hardest, not only because it's the biggest a/c but because my old computor struggles with it.
I've been given the opportunity to fly a real 747 simulator (-200) at the company HQ at Landhurst some time! I'm very excited! Can't wait!!!!
Regards
Joe

-Congrats LFC24, now you've landed that, it will be much easier to work out other aircraft!

-Congratulations to both for your first landings, and may there be many more!! :D
Am I correct in saying that ILS landings in FS 2004 only work for the cessna and one of the other light aircraft, therefore the ILS does not work for the boeing's??
