Flight

Ok, so the night before, we checked in online, printed off our boarding cards. we allocated ourselves Seats, 18F, 19 D,E & F. We got the train from Flowery Field train station to Manchester Airport, via, Manchester Piccadilly, We arrived at the airport just before 11 in the morning, and headed to Terminal 1, where we was to drop our bags off at the check in, Terminal 1 Check - in area was very quite, with some passengers queing for Lufthansa, Monarch, Thomas Cook, Turkish Airlines and Scandinavian Airlines. We got rid of our bags, went to the viewing area at Terminal 1, for a while had a hot drink, then went through the security, which as always was quick & tight, i felt very secure, as there was policemen walking around with guns, and sniffer dogs. We got through to Terminal 1, and it was the first time id flew from Terminal 1, im overally use to Terminal 2, well i was suprised about how big Terminal 1 is over Terminal 2!.

It was now around 12:30, we went to the screens and checked for our flight, which said, "Gate opens in 20 minutes", at around 1245, we checked again, but this time, it said, "Gate opens in 30 minutes" so by this time i knew that we was delayed, it turned around 1300, and we went too the gate area in Pier B of Terminal 1, at around about 1316, our Aer Lingus aircraft had landed, 26 Minutes late, as it taxied in, more and more passengers turned up, an annoucement was made "Aer Lingus Flight EI205 To Dublin, Ladies And Gentlemen, We would like to ask all passengers travelling on this flight to make themselves known to gate number 4" So we sat in the area of gate 4, and at around 1340 another announcement was made "Aer Lingus Flight EI205 To Dublin, Good Afternoon Ladies And Gentlemen, We'd Like To Ask All Passengers On This Flight To Come Forward For Boarding Through Gate Number 4", Soo, we boarded via the steps, taking us to the forward left door, where i was met by a friendly looking Aer Lingus Cabin Member, who greeted me "Hello ... Ooo Dear .. You Look Frozen!!" I Replied "Hello, Oo I Am, Its Very Cold Today!" i took my seat at 19F, where i had a fantastic view of the rear of the right wing. The captain made an announcement "Hello ladies and gentlemen, welcome about flight 205 to Dublin, firstly id like to apologise for our delay, the reason being, we was delayed down in Paris earlier today, flight time to Dublin should be around 35 minutes, soo sit back and enjoy the flight!" At 1356 we pushed back from gate 4. We then started out taxi to runway 24R, it started to rain, making pictures turn out bad!

We took off and headed West, we reached our cruise level, then the seat belt sign was deluminated, around 5/10 minutes later, it was luminated again and we had started our decent for Dublin, well that was quick! So we made our approach into Dublin, landing was fairly smooth, landed onto runway 28, we taxied to gate number A09, where we disembarked and went to collect our bags.

Flight

We arrived at the airport at around 09:30, earlier than expected! We used there self-service check-in, which i found too be really good, it was my first time using it, and i loved it! i changed our seats so we had the right wing view, as i had an idea that Manchester was on 24R arrivals, and would like to see my home town as we landed, so i did, and got allocated 17F, And 18D,E & F, we dropped our bags at check-in, and was told we had gate A14, then we went through secuirty, our flight was showing as ontime at the moment, we went through the duty free shops, where i purchased Aftershave! it was now around 1100, and we headed for gate A14, where we was greeted by an Aer Lingus Representative, and an Engineer, with the screen reading "AER LINGUS EI204 MANCHESTER 1155" At around 1130, an announcement was made "Aer Lingus, Flight EI204 to Manchester, ladies and gentlemen, we would liek to apologise for the delay to your boarding at this point in time, this is due to Operational Reasons" so we sat tight, then at around 1145, the doors were open and without announcement we just boarded, as we headed towards the plane, i noticed why we delayed, the aircraft tyres were being changed, we boarded through the Rear Left Door, where i was greeted by a Aer Lingus cabin attendent who directed me to 18F, i sat down, and the captain made an announcement "Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome aboard this Aer Lingus flight 204 to Manchester, first up, id like to apologise for the slight delay, this is due to the aircraft tyres having to be changed now, we will be cruising at around 21,000ft, for our 35 minute flight to Manchester, once after departure we will be making a u-turn heading for our first intersection, then we would continuing on that heading, until reaching Liverpool, where we would head North-east, to then make a turn heading onto the South-westerly runway, thank you, and enjoy the flight" so doors were shut at 1210, and then we pushed, we started up quickly, and got taxiing quickly , we reached runway 28 at around 1219, where we lined up and took off. We climbed up to 21,000ft, it was a turbulent flight, with the seat belt sign only being off for approximatly 2/3 minutes, we headed down to Liverpool, made the turn left, and headed for landing onto runway 24R, as we made our apporoach into Manchester i was looking outside my window, where i noticed my street! Then i noticed a building rather ugly, Its Ikea, which is in Ashton - U - Lyne, which got opened late last year! We landed onto runway 24R at 1258, 8 minutes late, we taxiied into gate 4, with a Turkish Airlines Airbus A321 Operating the Istanbul flight. We disembarked and was bussed to the arrivals hall, [Some Pics In Next Thread!]

Great report and photos. I have flown with Aer Lingus once (LHR-DUB-LHR) and wasn't overly impressed. Their service seemed very average.
