-It was £150 each and Ithink under 16' got a £15 discount ..... hmm I only just missed out:(
There was one on the 14th of Jan as well, from what I understand due to the demand we were meant tobe going on a A320 but MYT upgraded to a A321 as it was really popular.

-Sounds like you had fun, but i don't understand how an A320 was in maintenance for a hard landing...i thought they had an automated landing system that prevented that type of event

-I'm pretty sure that I saw an advert in the Daily Mail advertising another one of these coming up shortly.

-Is this the one featured in the Airliner World just out? I saw its £149 pp. Looks very good but i think its a cunning advert in AW as i saw no authors name next too it?
By: 15th March 2007 at 20:49 Permalink - Edited 1st January 1970 at 01:00
-Nope the one in AW was on the 14th Jan, exactly the same day though ... same set up etc etc .... I did actually say to my mum on the day I wonder if there was an under cover reporter but obv it was the other one they went to! lol

You are right, there is another one advertised as I have just cut it out of last weekends Daily Mail on Sunday (18th Mar)...the event itself is exactly the same set-up with My Travel and is being held on 29th April. It obviously was quite popular the first time, so they have decided to run it again so I am looking to go myself...only problem is I will have to fly up from LGW the night before and stay in a hotel as it seems to be quite an early start. :D

Hi, my mum and I went to Manchester yesterday for a tour around MyTravel Airways and a 1 hour flight. We first saw the advert in the daily mail in Decmeber, so my mum rang up and got us booked in for yesterday. I hve included some pics taken, I'm sorry for the quality of some and the editing as it was rather rushed, also I couldnt be bothered to configure my camera properly and just used the auto function. The day went as follows:
8.00am - meet at alteon training centre in Cheadle
8.30am - get coaches to MyTrvel hangar
9.00 - 11.30 am- visit MyTravel hangar and offices, We visited Operations, Flight Planing, Crewing and maintenance in the MyTravel Hanger floor. This part was really good, we had talks from some important guys a MYT, we were given several presentations about maintenance and overhauling of aircraft.

Thomas Cook A320 in maintenance after a very heavy landing
A CFM56-5B
G-BYTH doing engine runs
At 12.00 we had lunch in the hangar, after we transfered bt coach to terminal 1, we went through the very long queue at security and headed off to gate 23. We were initialy assigned seat 06A&B but to balance he aircraft we were later asigned seats 38E&F
While we were waiting I took this picture from the gate area. Not bril but I tried to get the AEU in the picture aswell.
We were quickly called for boarding for out 1 hour special flight. We boarded Airbus A321 G-SMTJ it lookd really smart with its new leather seats. (Also not a great picture)
We quickly boarded and were pushed back, there were 191 of us on the plane. we taxied up to the holding area next to runway 24R. After an xl 767 and a Helvelic F100 took off a Tfly 737 landed rather bumpily. We then turned on t 24R and spooled up straight away and after a very shrt run we took off. The aircraft was quite light as it did not have any luggage and much fuel on so it was quite an impressive takeoff. After a few bumps we were up in the clouds, after about 10 minutes we were over liverpool airport.
We then proceeded over and did a large turn to line us up to the runway. The pilots then started a descent into liverpool, we got down to 200ft and then did a 100% thrust missed approach which was pretty cool! lets just say it chucked you back into your seat! (we all knew it was coming but i was still a shock!)
After the steep climb we went above the clouds for ashort period of time.
Soon we were back into the clouds descending into Manchester, another few lumps and bumps later we were back on the ground. We taxied off the runway and waited behind a Tfly 757 while a Cathay 747 took off, a BA Emb145 landed, a Monarch A321 landed, a Emirates 777 lined up to the runway and a Monarch A320 taxied to the runway. We eventually moved off.

Under wing of out aircraft.
We then went through the terminal and transfered by coach to the MyTravel trainng centre at Cheadle. We were showed round the Cabin crew training area, we went into a cabin simulator, the crew filled it with fake smoke and we had to do a pretend emergency evacuation. We then walked around the other training models, including a B767 door, A320 slide, DC10 door and A330 slide. It was really good as we actually saw what the slide woul look like in an emergency and what to do. After this tour we sat and asked questions to two MyTravel pilots. By this time it was half six and time to go home!
It was a really enjoyable day, I learnt so much it really is unbelievable what goes on behind the scenes. The whole set up was organised so well, many thanks to all the MYT crew that voulenteered to take us all around it was really really great! I have to say the thing that most impressed me was how professional everything was at MyTravel, it really was extremely efficent. Well done MyTravel you really are a great airline!
comments welcome
thanks
