-I'm amazed that this event has generated so little traffic on this forum. Are people adopting a wait-and-see attitude?

-Well, I don´t think, that they come out with this announcement, after all the drawbacks of the past, without being quite sure about the definite timeline for the maiden flight......

-Well, from the standpoint of aviation enthusiasts, let us hope the best for the now given timeline and for a successful flight, and let others handle the politics.....

-Hmm, they do appear to be very close.
Note the dragging drone at the top of the vertical stabiliser. Tells me this is the plane that will be doing the flying first.

-Excellent, I'll be awake to see it online
The Boeing Company is proud to announce that the historic first flight of the 787 Dreamliner is scheduled to take place at 10:00 a.m. PST (18:00 GMT) on Dec. 15. We'd like to invite you to view this achievement via the World Wide Web. Our Web site will present a live broadcast of the takeoff, landing and post-flight press conference. The site can be accessed at www.boeing.com or www.newairplane.com. When accessing the site, look for a banner like the one contained in this e-mail. This banner will display more information on the timing for first flight. The Web site will go live 24 hours prior to takeoff. Please note, however, that first flights are dynamic in nature, and issues such as poor weather may affect timing. We will do our best to keep you informed of the specific date. Please keep checking the Web site for updates. We hope that you and your colleagues will join us to celebrate the first flight of Boeing's most advanced commercial airplane.Sincerely,
Boeing Commercial Airlines
