A bit of good news for DSA after falling traffic figures and service withdrawals, it looks as though they've secured some of the EZY aircraft leaving other UK bases.....

EasyJet to open clutch of routes from Doncaster Sheffield
David Kaminski-Morrow, London (10Dec09, 11:31 GMT, 219 words)

Budget carrier EasyJet is to open services from the northern UK's Doncaster Sheffield Airport, and expand at Manchester with an extra aircraft.

EasyJet is to start operating from Doncaster Sheffield to Amsterdam, Prague, Barcelona, Faro and Palma de Mallorca.

Its additional aircraft at Manchester - which brings the total there to five - will be used to open three more routes from next year.

EasyJet will serve Zurich, Sharm el-Sheikh and Mahon, taking the route network to 19 destinations in spring 2010.

The carrier's northern expansion follows plans to cut back heavily at London Luton and East Midlands.

EasyJet says it will have 20 aircraft stationed at northern locations, and routes from northern UK airports will account for 18% of its UK capacity.

The eight routes from Doncaster Sheffield and Manchester are among 36 being introduced between March and July next year.

These include six from Rome Fiumicino - to Dubrovnik, Heraklion, Ibiza, Mykonos, Palma and Split - plus four from Milan Malpensa: Bordeaux, Corfu, Thessaloniki and Santorini.

EasyJet will open services from Basle to Nantes, Split, Thessaloniki and Ajaccio, and from Paris Orly to Mykonos, Olbia and Palermo.

It will also operate from Berlin Schonefeld to Split and Corfu, while the remaining routes comprise Amsterdam-Split, Dortmund-Palma, Bristol-Paphos, Bristol-Tenerife, Ibiza-Naples, Ibiza-Venice, London Gatwick-Bordeaux, Edinburgh-Lisbon and Liverpool-Rhodes.

Good for Doncaster and Manchester :D

But isnt this what FR could of done when they left MAN earlier this year instead of going to LBA. Just wonder what they will do now with LS at LBA and EZY expanding at DSA, cause EZY will show them the door and make sure it hits them on the way out :diablo:
