A very calm controller... "Aircraft type is a triple seven and the problem is crash". He sounds more flustered about having to send the Qatari inbound on a go around.

Good clip. I suppose it is better for everyone if it's calm and systematic instead of manic.

You can hear all the alarms going off in the BA Cockpit as he makes the hurried mayday and again when the Capt. inadvertently makes the evacuate call over the radio.

I'm still amazed they got the plane down in a relatively safe manner. Engine failures at twice, tripple or a hundred times the height that crew experienced theirs at have proven fatal. They had very little time to react and thankfully their reactions got them home. Those men deserve all the credit they have been getting and then some.

You would like to hope that more pilots deal with emergencies like this than those who adopt the "*******k that we're going in" approach. Although enough of those have been published.

Here are my thoughts about it (even though I could not open the link):
1) Any landing you walk away from is a good landing.
2) "It also passed near a car which had just dropped off the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Gordon Brown." No comment.
3) My hat off to the crew for a damn fine job. Refer to point 1.
