I believe the SP stands for Special Performance, if memory serves me correctly, which it probably doesn't.

Only 43 747SP's were built with approximatley 25 remianing in srvice.Corsair I believe only operate 1 747SP.

You can occassionally see 747 SP's at Heathrow - Syrian Airlines operate the type, as do South African. VIP versions (Saudi in particular) also float around the place.
Pan Am, Qantas and United are former operators.

I think it was fairly recently that Qantas retired their last 747SP, Can anybody confirm that?

Yes, Qantas retired their last 747SP a few weeks ago (on March 4th), and it flew via HNL to Tucson.

I was at MAN today and i saw a corsair example of this fine 747 model, but how many of them are in operation? How many of them were made?
If anyone could answer me these questions i would be grateful.
