It might be mostly myth and superstition, buy how many people would willingly fly through the Bermuda Triangle? Also, are there many scheduled air routes through it?

Pilots - ever tried it? If so, were the instruments on good behaviour?

RE: Bermuda Triangle

Many flights pass through it. In actual fact there is no strict definition of the area it contains. Some reports state the eastern limit is just off the west coast of Ireland.
There was an excellent TV documantary about it a few years ago which gave a very plausible reason for all the occurances. All the significant dissappearances have occurred at the same time as periods of serious tectonic movement under the ocean in that region. These movments (much like my own!) release large quantites of natural gas which gives the sea an impression of boiling as it rises to the surface. The mass of bubbles in the water reduces the density and previously floating vessels slip below the waves. The gas contains many charged particles from withing the earth which when vented to the atmosphere above the waves cause compasses to misread. This phenomenon has been proven at many other locations around the world where serious plate tectonics occur but hey, who wants to get in the way of a good myth!

Yeah, I read about that phenomana some time ago, just goes to prove that fact can be stranger than fiction. But as you say Wysiwyg, why spoil a good myth, after all plenty of authors and film makers have have paid their mortgages courtesy of the Bermuda Triangle.

I take that you've never heard of Barry Manilow?

Just for the record he's a pianist/singer from New York, who warbles schmalzty, cheesey, totally middle of the road songs ,that appeal to mainly to middle aged woman.

Some years ago he had a "hit" record by the name of "Bermuda Triangle"
