New Route Air Canada from St Johns to Heathrow with A319's

Hi

Air Canada are launching a new non stop flight from St Johns to London Heathrow on April 6, 2007 with Airbus A319's This is replacing the current shared flight with Halifax.

Flight AC830 will leave St. John's at 12:55, arriving in London at 21:25, and flight AC831 will leave London at 22:40 arriving in St. John's at 00:40.

Yep, been on sale for a few weeks now!

A St.Johns service doesnt need a 767, so a A319 works perfectly, as its only 4 hours cross the pond!

Its just like flying from London to Moscow, or Istanbul in a A319, nothing strange!

That would look quite strange I think, with all the Air Canada A343s and all coming into LHR as well, then you see this little Air Canada A319. Didn't know they had the range on them but looking at the stats it can travel 6845km.

This does sound really exciting. Seeing an Air Canada A319 is going to seem a little strange, but definitely looking forward to it.

The 763 will still come, just direct from Halifax, so in effect this little babybus will be an extra daily flight from AC into LHR!

Testing the water for other routes with A319 ? GLA or MAN to YYZ is that feasible ?

Their was talk about a year ago of AC using the A319 to GLA...

Given the configuration of the aircraft in question I doubt either GLA or MAN would generate enough Executive Class traffic to make it pay, frankly.

With a 762 on the MAN routes, with healthy loads, i don't think so ;)

Probably around 5/6 hours it's around 2600 nm, depending on which way they want to go. If they decide to go through Scotland its over 3000.

Healthy loads and yeilds are different things. Last I heard, MAN was next for AC chop.

Would they ever think about doing the same route on the same aircraft twice daily.
A suggestion maybe cut the turn around time at LHR from 1hour 15mins to say 45mins long then when it gets back do another 45 mins turnaround at St. Johns and do all over again. Does anybody else share the same thought. Or am i just in dreamland like i normaly am!!

Well its a seasonal route anyway, so you could say its "for the chop" in October. My mate who works for their handing agent says that most pax connect to onward Canadian destinations @ YYZ anyway

Also Z4 could be too strong for them in the long term, excellent litte airline they are!

The rumor about the AC 319 coming to Gla has been doing th erounds since AC pulled out last Year, talking to the Guys at Cargo they were indicating that we might see them back in 2007, did ask abou the 319 , but they had heard nothing about this
