with an Russian built 19 seater LET410.

Czech built I believe, however looks like a good way of offering a feeder service. Many frend on the IOM currently use the EMX / REA flights to LPL to catch EZY / RYR flights onto the continent. With services to 3 Jet2 hubs then hopefully this can be a decent venture. Wonder how they will structure the fares - never been on a LET before!

Also (a bit of an afterthough), but I wonder if the links with Rockhopper / Blue Islands may see some thought of a GCI or JER-LBA Service in the future now the have the JS31's.

Wow, Let 410's different or what! Apparantly the LBA-IOM service will be 3x daily!

I have to get myself on one of their aircraft as soon as they start! (if they start ;)).

LOL The A/c type favoured by elgan mark dan and my mutal friend i believe.

BFS will be gone by end of August im sure, unless they price WAY below BNW to counteract £10-25 extra to get to City Centre from BFS.

They will have a hard time getting the LET410 certified by the CAA. They threw a wobbly when Rockhopper tried to use them last year.

Rather than offering the IOM-BFS route, and going into competition with other airlines, could they not look to take over the IOM-EDI route that was once offered by Alpha One, now that they are dead-in-the-water, as I am sure that would be a much better option...imho.

I thought they were certified by the CAA, turobolets are used for parachute jumping?

Certainly very different, I'm assuming they've found airframes on the cheap.

And not forgetting EMX who are normally considerably cheaper than BNW!

There is quite a difference between using them for para jumping and using them on scheduled services. I cant remember the differences between the types of licences exactly, but it takes a fair bit of paperwork to get them to full passenger carrying standards.

Once it stops raining I'll go have a look see if the information is in our library, we do have quite a few of the CAA documents, and the JARS/BCARS.

I think that the CAA have a little less wriggle room now... Whilst I'm pretty certain the L410 hasn't got a UK type certificate (the para droppers are variously on the Ukraine and Hungarian register, amongst others), the Czech Republic is now part of the EU and a participant in the JAA or whatever its now called. UK airlines wishing to lease foreign registered a/c are required to submit a request to the CAA (and usually demonstrate that a/c of similar capability are not available in the UK) but I believe that once that's approved the CAA don't have too much control over what EU-registered a/c can be operated on behalf of a UK AOC holder.

I'm just trying to recall whether Rockhopper actualy submitted a formal application to the CAA or not, I believe they did and it got rejected. I dont have time to work my way through the CAA application documents at the moment, but I will try and find out what the actual reason they gave was this evening.

It might just be that they were warned off before actualy getting to the formal stage, but I'm sure I recall seeing details of the specific registrations they were trying to lease in and everything as I almost booked myself a little trip to get on one last summer.

One wonders how serious this venture is when the date of the press release is 11 May 2005!

Quite good prices for the routes they are flying, although I really cant see how Belfast will work really.

Interestingly there is no mention of aircraft type on the site, apart from the fact they are 17 seaters. The only aircraft I know that is explicitly 17 seats is the Trislander. Is the LET410 not larger than a 17 seater?

Hi Mark

I've Just noticed that at the bottom of the homepage on the Manx2 website it says that flights will be operated by BASe Air Kft

So it looks as though these flights are going to be this Let410 aircraft that has previously been mentioned
