Hi all in this months Airliner world it says (UK INDEPENDENT budget carrier Flybe has confirmed it will take delivery of its first Embraer 195 in October 2006. The Exeter based airline is the launch customer for the Brazilian-built aircraft and it will use them to replace its ageing BAe 146-300, which have recently suffered from reliability problems. The first two aircraft will be based at birmingham but by the end of the year additional examples will arrive for operation from Exeter and Southampton)

so I was just wondering are they keeping there fleet of 6 BAe 146-200 as they have not said about them in the article?

will any 195s be based at NWI?

I can't imagine any will be based (not in the short term anyway) but I'm sure some will pass through, they will be based (as the article says and in a similer pattern to the 737s) at BHX and eventually SOU and EXT.

I remember flybe saying that they were to be based in Exeter, Southampton, Birmingham, Glasgow and Edinburgh.
But that was before they began NWI operations.

I don't think they will base any at NWI but they might pop in like Future Pilot said.

Back to the question are Are Flybe keeping the BAe 146-200?

I would imagine not, I believe they are aiming for a two type fleet and that will ultimatley be the Dash-8 Q400 and the EMB-195. All the 146s will go eventually.

You mean three with the B737-3s, does anyone reckon these will ever be replaced in the near future by 737NG or A319s - the livery would look best on the A319/A320 but I could see them getting B737-7s instead

Hi wozza the three remain 737 aircraft will return to Astraeus during Oct/Nov 2006 then it be a Two type Fleet as that the month the first EMB 195 will join the fleet.

In Flybe spec think it's 119 - I thought BHD would get a couple of based 195s to replace the 146s

I went to a Professional Pilot seminar a couple of months ago and Ian Cheese was there who is head of recruitment for the Dash fleet for FlyBe and he basically said ALL 146s will be replaced by the Embraer 195 to leave an all Dash Q400 & Emb 195 fleet

Hope this helps
