-Don't think the GB actually stands for Great Britain - more likely it harks back to the old "Gib Air" and their historical Gibraltar roots.

-GB Airways is a totally separate company to BA, but operate under a franchise arrangment. This means that GB Airways have to paint their aircraft in BA colours, and oeprate a near identical BA product on board. In return they get access to the BA reservation system (notably ba.com) and get an increased level of marketing they otherwise wouldnt get.

I booked my flight through BA.com and it said it was GB airways the thing i don't get is what is the difference GB airways = Great Britain airways and british airways is british so what is the difference does GB just do European flights and BA does the international ones i just don't see the difference!! can anyone explain??
