TAM Airlines of Brazil has ordered 15 A350-900s

European aircraft manufacturer Airbus said it has won an order for up to 15 A350-900 jets from Brazilian carrier TAM.

TAM has signed a firm contract for 10 of the aircraft and has options on a further five, Toulouse-based Airbus said.

TAM initially announced its intention to buy the A350 at the Paris Air Show in June, when it announced a commitment for eight aircraft.

Airbus, whose shareholders are EADS and BAE Systems PLC, did not disclose any financial details of the deal. It is developing the A350 as an alternative to Boeing's 787 Dreamliner.
