Just noticed that Jet 2 are increasing frequency on this route to daily during April - however, it is not possible to book flights after 30 April - bearing in mind Summer '06 has been released for other routes, does anyone know if this route is being pulled?

Very Odd. Havent heard anything to make them pull it off plus the summer schedule starts at the begining of April so even odder!

From what I have heard its becoming increasingly more popular with load factors improving. Maybe Monty P might know something...

Jet2.com BFS/BLK

The rest of BFS/BLK flights for summer are still to be released. The route will not be dropped.

Loads for the Summer are expected to be high.

However none of the new routes from BLK have the flight timings confirmed yet for Summer 06, so they may be waiting to release these all together.

Best Regards

Richard

Great post, good to see EDI-MAN staying, loads have really picked up now since it started, the amendment of the timetable to 2x daily must have helped, some flights are even going out full now.

Hopefully they will confirm the new route from EDI, got a feeling it could be Venice, although I suppose with Flyglobespan dropping PRG they could bring back some loco competition to CSA.

BLK better get it's self together for all this expansion next summer though! I was there a couple of weeks ago meeting a relative off a flight and had forgotten how small it is!! Was also disappointed at the lack of any arrival/departure information anywhere. I had no idea if the flight was on time!

Also got some more bits to say about Jet2's B757's

The New Jet2.com B757-200'S G-LSAB will be making a flying visit to Manchester on Saturday January 21st.

The LBA based Jet2 Boeing 757 Flight crews will be doing some practice CAT3 Approaches with her so as to when its is too bad to Land at leeds on a CAT3 on Runway 32 or CAT2 on Runway 14 she will be able to make a divert to Manchester. And do CAT3 Approach to MAN runways.

Sorry folks shes not staying there for long though. It will return back to LBA later that day. Both B757's units G-LSAA and G-LSAB will be base at LBA until at least the 3 unit arrives around winter 2006/07. Then one of the 3 new B757-200 will be released from its LBA duties and then be based MAN.

I'm sorry, but .....

Just because the weather is below CAT3a at Leeds - there is no suggestion it would be below CAT3 at Manch. If it was, why would they go there? For a start MME is the primary alternate for Jet2 at Leeds. It's also very unusual for an aircraft that has burned holding fuel awaiting weather improvements at one airfied to then shoot off to another airport where the weather is marginal. The delays into MAN on a single runway ops in low viz just mean you would avoid it like the plague.

Also a certified CAT3 aircraft, with certified CAT3 crew and a certified CAT3 airflied, does not have to go making practice approaches into an airport like MAN before they are allowed to make a live approach.

Oh and the 14 ILS at Leeds is CAT1 only - not CAT2.

Eh

Well very shortly they'll be doing CAT2 to 14, Trust me. Its in the process off being approved. Should be on line by end of this summer.

Also a certified CAT3 aircraft, with certified CAT3 crew and a certified CAT3 airflied, does not have to go making practice approaches into an airport like MAN before they are allowed to make a live approach.

It was only back in November that a Jet2.com B737-300 (G-CELG) had to do a practice CAT3 at Manchester as the LBA crew operating noticed that the frame was not certified for CAT3. This aircraft was operating on the Barcelona - Leeds LS232 service. Without doing it the aircraft would have been stook at Manchester and the crew & passengers bused back to LBA.

Infact though the crew brung her to back to Leeds as the LS232E and did a CAT3 approach onto Runway 32 with her passengers on board as well. This was Aslo the day after LBA recived upto 20 odd diverts from MAN.

Robertt is indeed correct...

Not quite sure what you mean by this, but both crew have to be CATIII current - and that includes having done a CATIII approach within the last so many days (can't remember how many!). If one of the crew were outside the limit, doing a "practice" CATIII approach into MAN in better than CATIII conditions would put them back in currency for a real CATIII approach.

Well working where I do I can get access to LS loads on flight from BFS and LBA as Servisair handle them at those airports and loads on BFS-BLK arnt incredibly great but its yeild that really matters.
