Qatar Airways has signed a letter of intent that would see the airline being one of the launch customer for the new aircraft. The contract would reportedly be worth 10.6 billion Euros at catalog price.

I am left wondering what type of penalties will find their way into the final deal. Considering the few problems Airbus has encountered with the A380, could there be a repeat with the A350 project? However, with the signing of this first letter of intent, could we see further airlines and leasing institutions do the same in the near future.
One of the problems which plagued an earlier launch for the aircraft was the reluctance by several European government to provide the launch aid Airbus had required, almost demended. Have these hurdles been cleared to allow EADS to announce the project launch at the end of the month?
