My parents are meant to fly into Newcastle on a Helios charter flight later tonight however they have just been informed in Larnaca Airport that there is an indefinite delay to their flight home. the pax have been bused to a hotel with overnight accomodation the reason being that Helios only have 3 of there 4 aircraft for flights. surely nearly a week after the tragic accident the airline would have wet or dry leased an aircraft in order to minimise disruption throughout their schedule.

on another Helios note, anyone know anything about the 738 that had an emergency landing in STN after departing LTN this week with "wing panel problems"???

needless to say, they arnt exactly looking forward to the flight back!

cheers,
LGKR

Have just read a few snippets from the Airliners.net forum - though not sure there is any truth behind any of it?

Helios Airlines suspended all its flights Friday five days after one of its 737's crashed outside Athens killing the 121 people onboard, Cypriot radio reported Friday. The Cyprus-based charter airline confirmed its decision to the government in Nicosia and has agreed to allow independent experts to examine its remaining three aircraft. The decision to halt all flights comes after a Helios plane was forced to divert from London's Luton airport to Stansted Friday morning with landing gear problems.....

Apparently the 737-800's are to go to Sweden to under-go investigations. A319 SU-LBF and B757 4X-BAZ are flying on behalf of HCY.

One Helios 738 is parked up at STN are diverting there due to suspected flap problems.
