Thanks for the kind comments chaps.
Grey, weather was very strange, on the way down I was basking in some very nice weather, arrived on the South side and it was dense fog. You could here the aircraft on the runway but couldn’t see a blooming thing, also to note they were using 24R to take off and land due to poor vis, then switch over at around 09:00.

Wilag. Some nice pictures there. But i have not known of any southside to the airport to do aviation spotting. I know of T1 car park and the aviation viewing area. Could you describe how to get to the aviation site either coming from Wilmslow or the Motorway/aviation centre direction?

-Directions to southside:Exit the M56 at J6 (sighposted freight terminal) and head towards the viewing park. Instead of turning in to the viewing park, carry on and you'll pass through 2 tunnels. At the round about, take your first left and park just around the corner on the lane. You'll see the runway at the top of the hill. You have access to the full length of 24L/06R.
Ahh. I know where you mean now. But isn't that one for emergency vehicles only and out of bounds to the public?

-I would advise caution when spotting from the location LFC24 has mentioned if you have a car.
Periodically the Police have been known to ticket every vehicle parked off the road. There are also reports of cars regularly being broken into as well.
Having said all that, the rumours on the Manchester mailing lists suggest that the AVP will be moved to the South along side the Firestation at some point next year.
