-A very odd one indeed. I see what OneWorld brings to Malev, but I dont honestly see what Malev bring to OneWorld. The alliance is quite top heavy in Europe already, and all Malev does is the same inter-european connections that BA, Iberia, Finnair, and Aer Lingus have. They have a small domestic operation, and a virtually non existant long haul operation.
I dont see how existing one world passengers will benefit at all, except for additional codesharing on Budapest routes?

-That's exactly what I was thinking. I cannot personally understand why its going ahead.
This seems just about as ridiculous as Spanair being in the Star Alliance.

-Malev serve quite a few destination in Eastern Europe that BA dont. It obvious that there is increasing numbers of eastern European passengers travelling from their to the UK and without doubt the business traffic is going to increase over the next few years and MA and BA offer a better business service than EZY and FR. But I think the main reason is to capture Eastern European travellers and there will be alot of them connecting through LHR onto BA destinations.
I think EI withdrawel from the alliance is quite near as the new A320s arnt even gettin one world stickers on them.

-From a passengers point of view I have found Malev easily on par with most full service carriers in Europe. Have done 4 trips with them all told, and could not fault them. An asset to oneworld I would have thought.

-Maybe an assett in terms of routes, but surely not financially. It's just been privatised but doesn't seem to have done much- still borderline profit/loss
