-Surprised there is no Dublin - Budapest
By: 19th May 2005 at 19:19 Permalink - Edited 1st January 1970 at 01:00
-Well Dublin to Budapest is already served daily by Malev and Aer Lingus also operate 4 weekly flights. Interestingly enough the Malev loads have nose dived since Aer Lingus started the route in October.

-Cant be much demand on the route then
By: 19th May 2005 at 21:51 Permalink - Edited 1st January 1970 at 01:00
-Well EI seem to be filling 179 seats 4 night a week and Malev are getting about 50-70% loads now much less then they were 7 day a week and in the summer they increase to 11 weekly. All of Dublins route to Eastern Europe seem to be doin quite well and I think DUB has seen more new routes to Eastern Europe than any other destination.
Since May 1st 2004
Warsaw- LOT now 11 weekly and EI 4/5 weekly
Prauge-Smartwings went daily but pulled out for the summer saying they will be back
Riga-Air Baltic-3/4 weekly
Vilnius-Air Baltic-2/3 weekly,Lithuanaian Airlines-2/3 weekly
Adria-Ljubljana-2/3 weekly
Tallin-Estonian Airlines started 3 weekly and increased to 4
and now Sky Europe Krakow & Bratislava
So overall demand from Dublin to Eastern Europe seems to be very high but so I dont see why Budapest would be any different.
Malev also get alot of connecting traffic onto places like Belgrade and some other Easter European airport not served directly from DUB.

SkyEurope announces two new routes to Dublin from Bratislava and Krakow
Bratislava / Krakow, 18 May 2005 – SkyEurope Airlines, Central Europe’s first low cost, low fare airline, announced today the launch of two new routes to Dublin from its bases of Bratislava and Krakow.
SkyEurope has been working together with the airports of Bratislava and Krakow to identify new destinations. As a result of this cooperation, SkyEurope is glad to announce the launch of direct flights to Dublin, which will address a strong demand of travelers from both Central Europe and Ireland.
While Irish travelers have been enjoying the benefit of low cost airlines for some time, fares from Dublin to Central Europe remained very high. By adding Ireland to its network now comprising 14 countries, SkyEurope confirms its strong commitment to develop links from and to the “New Europe” at affordable fares.
Bookings can already be made for these new routes with fares starting from €25 (SKK 990 / PLN 99) one-way excluding taxes. Flights will start on 20 September 2005 between Krakow and Dublin and on 14 October 2005 between Bratislava and Dublin.
