    An-158 NG

Wondering about the viability of a 'new generation' Antonov An-158.
Seems that with a little Western European support, Antonov could re-spec the An-158 with 'Western' systems and engines, say the PW P1700G, and a wider chord, inboard wing with double slotted flaps, for short-field operations. More composite structure would also be desirable.
Regional jets are becoming monopolistic, with the Airbus/Bombardier and Boeing/Embraer factions competing in the 130 seat class, there is an opening for replacing ATR-72 and Bombardier Q400 with a new technology jet which can use existing turboprop runways.
    Are you listening Leonardo ?
