I have today finally invested in a new scanner, just something cheap for me play with. Anyway here you go, this some pics from some time I did with Air Atlanta and some of the fam flights I went on...

1. Cockpit on Caps side of B741 TF-ATE en route to TFS
2. Inbound to TFS - something that is familiar to most TFS visitors
3. Tenerife out the window when on finals
4. TFS out of the big front window on finals!
5. TF-ATE on the ground at TFS
6. Lining up on 24L at TFS
7. Another cockpit shot - this time from the middle.
8. Malaga landing.
9. A shot of some of the regular MAN operators upon our return.

Will dig some more out at some point when I am off work!

Great pictures, thanks for sharing.

Anyone know why there would be a split in the thrust levers between the 1-3 and 2-4 engines as seen in the first picture?

I would hazard a guess that the control cables require to be re-rigged, hence the split between the lever positions.

The split seems pretty large for a rigging error.

In the days before FADEC (electronic engine control) 'throttle stagger' was a common problem, 1/2 a knob was generally considered the maximum. Assuming that the control rigging was correct the remedy was to adjust the fuel control unit, a procedure known as engine trimming.
Thanks for sharing the photo's.

Wys told me about this when I met him at GLA. It was to keep the engines in sync (numbers N1, N2, etc aligned) because you may have two completely different-natured engines (one new, the other old, etc) and they won't give the same power output with the same throttle position. So, generally the crew make small corrections to keep the numbers matched - also makes the ride smoother for passengers, apparantly, with vibrations and all.

Perhaps they had another reason?

he he , I remember wys telling us about that, using the 757 (his mount back then) as an example.

As you climb the thrust lever control linkages (running to the engines) all thermally contract slightly differently so they end up with stagger like this.

Our auto throttle keeps them nicely in line...

Do all models of the 747 have autothrottles or are they replaced with the much more crude machine called an FE?

I think it's just the 400 that has an autothrottle.
Much more up to date than the classic. :D
