CAE Inc. gets $10M Airbus order

MONTREAL (CP) — CAE Inc. has received an order worth about $10 million Cdn to supply a simulator for two new Airbus aircraft.

The company said today the "visual and cabin motion system" will be used as an engineering development simulator for both the new A400M military transport aircraft and the A380, the world's largest commercial airliner under development by the European aircraft maker.

This is the fourth such system ordered by Airbus. The engineering simulators are designed primarily to evaluate and verify aircraft design well before the first aircraft is built.

Since it was developed in Montreal and brought to market in May, 2002, the visual system has been purchased by GE Capital Aviation Training, China Eastern Airlines, Korean Air, Air New Zealand, South African Airways, EVA Airways, WestJet and Airbus.

CAE is a leading provider of simulation and controls technologies to civil aviation, military and marine customers. The company generates annual revenues of more than $1 billion and employs more than 6,000 people in Canada, the United States and other countries.
