Which of these airlines do you think are most likely to merge?
    I think Varig and TAM.

I voted none of the above. I cant really see any of them happening.

Though if I did have to vote for one of them I guess it would be for the BMi Virgin merger. The Varig and TAM deal fell through did it not?

I would think Varig/TAM is a done deal.

I don't see a merger between Frontier and JetBlue, however. They are both very successful airlines in their own right and will show a profit in the future. Both are low cost carriers but their strategies are very different, Frontier has taken growth slowly and cautiously while JetBlue has gone in full throttle, their fleets are different and they both operate very different systems etc. I think each of them is capable of standing alone and continuing to grow in their niche rather than merging as two unlikely fits with no guarantee of success, a codeshare agreement maybe though could be a good idea.

I too voted none of the above. Rumor here is that Virgin will be signing a deal with Atlantic Coast Airlines (who just lost their deal with United Airlines) to start an operation here in the States and to get around the laws that prevent a foreign carrier being based here.

NO VOTE. The Virgin and BMI merger may go through but with much disliking at BA. BA are ready and willing to buy BMI if a deal is imminent with Virgin, the benefits if they do buy I think just over 50% of the take-off/landing slots at heathrow will then be owned by BA.

mmmm maybe I should by some more shares now

I did F9 and B6 as filler, because they dont allow less than four options.

I think that Bmi will merge with someone soon...

What about a name for these new airlines ?

                Midland Virgin ?

                Blue Frontier ?
