    Stirling Bits

Think I`ll take you`re advice Cees and start this new thread, perhaps the moderator can tell me if this idea is going to take all the storage up on my images, sorry not really aux fait with the old pc.If there`s anyone else out there with any Stirling bits..nows you chance, would be interesting to see.I think it`s far better to show stuff and educate people, you never know someone might recognise some bits as the same as bits lurking in the shed. There`s too many projects going on that never get `an airing` so I`m starting the ball rolling. Here`s a bomb rack from the wing bomb bay.

Looks like that was made by Shorts - is that right Hindenberg? What about the bomb release mechanism - has someone pinched it? If you need any fusing units I have a few spares around the place.

Yes this is made by Shorts, the bomb carrier was a standard A.M. one all fusing stuff gone but `yes` I could do with one.The chrome release mechanism still works on this.

    Nice item Martin,

The part floor, bombbay section we have from the Venhuizen Stirling also has the bomb carrier in place.

    More pics please

    Cheers

I think I've posted this shot before but what the heck.

Stirling fuel tank control levers, found at Mag Elektron, circa 1980.

    Nice collection Martin,

What about the canopy, anything survived and available (apart from the escape hatch that escaped you as mentioned in an earlier post). Or are drawings available?

    Cheers

I`ve actually found that the seventh lever for tank No.7 was by itself on the Starboard side of the fuselage behind the Radio Operator. This is because it was a later modification to have the extra fuel tank in each wing. You learn a new thing every Day !!!

This largish lump (believed Stirling) was recovered from Stradishall Airfield in Suffolk. Approx 3ft long, 5mm thick allow with an steel swing arm type link? The two sections run parallel with each other. The brass fitting plus other parts are stamped with an "829" part number and an inspection stamp of SEOL 73. Any ideas??

This piece is available if anyone is interested?

would love it if that`s ok...will look through the A.P. to ID first thing that comes to mind is wing substructure.

829 is Stirling main fuselage structure...if you can read the next 3 digits I can tell you where.
