    Thumbs up

These Pictures are taken from the 50th Anniversary video of the SLAF.I hope you'll like it.I must mention that some of the ANtonov-12s in the above pictures are operated by Srilankan Cargo and not by the SLAF.And the Last Y-8 crashed in '02 or '03.The Pucara's have also been retired after SAM threats. The Beech-18's also retired. No Information about Chetaks in SLAF service. They were to be operated by a separate wing under the Navy but the SLAF objected.Skymasters are also retired.

Great thread! Sad to see those burnt out wrecks of K-8s after the Tamil Tiger attack.

The Katunyake attack was a pretty devastating one. K-8s, Kfirs. MiG-27 and a few Airbuses were caught up in that one.

Technical Fault Causes Kfir Jet To Nosedive Into Lagoon

GAMPAHA: AN AIR FORCE Kfir fighter jet crashed into to the NEGOMBO lagoon Monday (16) evening around 5.45 p.m..

Pilot of the Kfir jet, after detecting a technical fault of the craft, informed the control centre about it.

Following instructions he received, the pilot changed its flying route and let it crash into the lagoon in order to avoid it crashing on to populated area.

However, the pilot of the fighter jet escaped.

    Investigations are in progress.
