Another temporary one, or a permanent paint scheme? In hindsight the 'racing' colours suit RN201 much better, is this one due for a new identity as well?

I believe TD248 is changing scheme fully. Late war scheme if I am right.

    From what I read elsehwere, it's a 2TAF scheme.

Looking forward to seeing it however it turns out...

A single aircraft can succesfully represent a variety of squadrons/themes, like TFC's Hawk 75, the Bournemouth ISS Fury and others.

Nope, at the moment it hasn't got any paint at all! You will all have to wait and see..... Some will mourn the loss of the innaccurate (for this mark and particular example) silver scheme, but in all fairness it has been in it for the last 13 years, so you've had a chance or two to get your pictures! The new owners want a new scheme, they want one that is more accurate and they want to signify a new ownership. It should be back at Duxford sometime in early August, but will be having further details applied to the scheme so save some space on your memory cards Merlin 70 and Darren H! Despite hours of research for accuracy and tailoring it to the owners specified requirements I am sure someone out there will have nothing better to do than to pick holes in it! However, there is also the vague possibility that some of you might even like it

    Thumbs up

Well, I for one am looking forward to it!

As much as I liked the old scheme, I think a change will be nice and with RN201 in a similar scheme to the old one, I don't think it will be to hard to bare!

According to Cliff Spink, the new owners are Spifire Ltd although I don't know exactly they are.

The G-INFO site has the following details:

    SPITFIRE LTD
    FORUM HOUSE, GRENVILLE STREET
    ST. HELIER
    JERSEY
    JE4 0UE
    CHANNEL ISLANDS

    Cheers

    Question

Maybe an early question but: Will HFL continue to operate TD248 for this new owner? Or is Spitfire LTD going to be both owner and operator?

Spitfire Ltd will operate TD248. It is hoped to continue to be based at Duxford and will continue to be maintained by ARC, who have looked after it for the last 5 years or so. HFL only do their own projects and not third party maintenance.

Cros doesn't do aeroplanes any more - he had enough trouble with the last one...

Just seen what I think is TD248 displaying over Duxford. From a distance the scheme looks similar to TFC's Mk14 Spitfire.

Just had a quick look at the Jersey Financial Services Commission web site, basically the same as Companies House in the UK. There's no further information about Spitfire Limited other than a companies number, however there is a another Company which was incorporated 3 days ago under the same address with the following name :-

Business Name: SPITFIRE LEASING LIMITED Registration Number: 90838

    Registered Business Office:
    P.O. Box 829,
    Forum House,
    Grenville Street,
    St. Helier,
    JE4 0UE.

The latest issue of Aeroplane says that Spitfire Ltd is a new consortium and that one of the new owners of TD248 is Cliff Spink, hence the new 74 sqn scheme.

I look forward to seeing the new paint job.

    Cheers

I am unclear what the link with 74 Sqn and Cliff Spink is. Can anyone elaborate? I gather that 74 sqn operated Mk XIV's late in the war and therefore the colour scheme and camo pattern is authentic with the Mark. XVI.
