Author apparently misses the last two digits which are represented as two small dots (ergo zero)

Errr, you know that my collection is huge, but....

    Syrian MiG-25 photos - none
    Syrian MiG-29 photos - none
    Syrian Su-24 photos - none
Syrian Su-27 photos - nonexistant anyway

Screw the bloody military junta, what is there so much to hide? An old MiG-29? I wonder what so much classified about it.

A bunch of Syrian Gazelles were captured by the IDF in 1982. Some were later used for a few years in the Israeli AF. At least one is still flying in Israel in the Israeli Electricity Company.

Two SA.342L captured from the Syrian Air Force after being shot down in the Lebanon in 1982. Parts from a number of captured wrecks were combined to produce these two flying examples for technical evaluation. The first Gazelle was then sold to a civilian operator. The second Gazelle was used by 125 sqn for liaison and airshow demonstrations, and after about 3 years it was retired to the IAF Museum.

Not a good idea - In Syria you might get yourself shot trying to do so.

yes we do have parades, the SyAAF shows in each and every occassion, I've been over flown by MiG-23s, MiG-25s, Mi-8s and SA.342s so many times I can't remember how many actually.

I was once over flown by MiG-29s and many times by MiG-21s.

we simply don't print pics of these aircraft ... that's all, actually the MiG-23s fly so low over Damascus during the October 6th celibrations that you can recognize each and every detail.

the weekly show prepared by the ministry of defense usually contains incredable stuff and is showed at 17:30 on monday each week!.

last year the Israeli air force magazine had stills from one of those shows.

BTW, I think Arthur once spoke about how friendly SyAAF base guards were with some of his spotter friends and that had a chat together or something like that.

    talking from memory here.

Could be, but not when you try to peep over the fence...
Anyway, the SyAAF should be much more open about its pictures. I don't expect them to show their most important assets, but seriously, MiG-2-1/3/5/9s are nothing new and are known to the west. If anything it might create some kind of deterrence.

Damn straight, but the Syrians doesn't seem to have much in the way of showing off.

A few planespotters talked themselves into a basevisit at Minakh IIRC (a number of L39s where there then as well), and hearsay has it that a few other guys actually had a similarly unofficial visit at one of the MiG-25 bases. I haven't heard anything credible about the latter, but the L39 basevisit is definately true.

Arthur, a few years ago the Italian air force show team did a show over Minakh AB that was attended by the public and aired life on Syrian TV.

they visited the base for a few days so I'm sure they had many pics right?.

I'm sorry Yaser. If they took pics, i haven't seen them unfortunately. But i do remember some stills from that Minakh 'airshow' went public, most of them with L-39s but possibly also one or two with a Hip. And a whole lot of officers, of course

Sometime people say Syria doesn't want to show its military because its not as good as it appears to be on paper, after the humiliation in the previous wars with the Israel.
In more ways then one I think this is true since it is so crap in combat.
