    Regarding the "WZ-10 picture"

There have been speculations that the Agusta A129 technology had been sold to China. It seems to me that the picture somehow resembles the A129, especially when you look at the rear wheel assembly. But there are major differences: A129 has 4-blade main rotor and 2-blade tail rotor, but the one in the picture has 5-blade main rotor and asymmetrical 4-blade tail rotor, which indicates that it is bigger and heavier than A129.

its pretty unlikely to the true though. just doesnt make sence for china to buy an obsolete design, espcially when the EU arms embargo is still in place.

if the chinese wanted to buy an attack helo to RE, they could have just turned to the russians and got something far better without the need to sneak around and all the problems and risks that brings.

You are correct. The photo was posted and a discussion of the aircraft type ensued. It was noted the Su-30s in the background (photo certainly taken at Wuhu) but some wanted to argue they were not Su-30s because of the number of hardpoints. This plane was one short for an Su-30. A photo of Su-30s with the same number of hardpoints as this one was posted. A photo taken at an Su-30 base that could be an SU-30, probably is an Su-30.

Yes, and the missile was also discussed. It turned out to be a practice round of the R-27 and didn't have the normal pinched neck and flanges on the seekerhead that are tell-tale signs of a normal R-27. Hyperwarp posted a picture showing the practice round being loaded up on a MKK.

The original picture I posted was a lot bigger. I'll look to see if I have it around to repost.

Here's the training missile being loaded onto the Flanker (either a SK or J-11.) The same black bands of the training round in this picture are just visible in the disputed picture above.

Notice the design of the PL-12's rear fins. Its meant to give the PL-12 exceptional agility.

The PL-12 is a high priority missile. Taiwan is armed with AIM-120Cs.

The Russian R-77 is no match for the American AMRAAM. China needs the PL-12.

China also wants to integrate the PL-12 with its Flankers. The R-77 is not good enough.

One conclusion! PL-11(I still strongly believe it is a ARH missile) shall be compare to Taiwan 'SkySword II' ARH missile. PL-12 is compared to AIM-120C.The seeker use on PL-12 is definitely not AMR-1 seeker but a type evolve from it and be far more advance.AMR-1 seeker is believe to use on PL-11 and make it as a cheap active BVRAAM and for export market. While PL-12 will be offer only to close allied like Pakistan for their FC-1.

    共军预警机新消息
    摘自 鼎盛王朝 052e 2005-02-22 22:41

    http://www.top81.cn/bbs/ccb/index.cgi

Interesting to notice that the PLAAF insignia is painted on the fuslage rather than on the vertical fin.

Nothing. and its just one website where certain people participated. the sample sizes are
so small its laughable to draw conclusions about any country. infact I think its impossible to figure out what the is "average" level of a country in anything unless one covers all geographical areas and samples hundreds of thousands of people...just picking a few kids off a school in a city doesnt work.

small and rich countries like nordic states will always display a better average.
however their small population also restricts the amount of deployable quality people. and thats where large nations like US win the 'war'
