    Hawker Typhoon Car Door Pilot's Instrument Board Assembly.

    And here's the result of two years research; eighteen months chasing correct instruments; and a complete reverse-engineering from scratch of the port; centre and starboard pilot's instrument boards from Hawker drawings.
    (The only non-standard parts are the port and starboard Thermotank Punkah Louvres -The correct 1˝" louvres are unobtainable; so we've used 2" Vampire ones; the flap indicator; and the gun sight spare bulb holder - both of which were also unobtainable and have therefore been built from scratch.)
    This is as near as we can get to a Car Door 1B layout, from a few iffy, grainy photos and extensive in-depth research.
    The photos in A.P.1804A and the Pilot Notes are actually of a Tornado Layout; and Hendon's MN235 interior is non-standard; which all the modellers seem to fall for regardless of Tiffy version.

    Beautiful. I have an original stbd side panel that I sent drawings of to John L at your museum ages ago. I tried to get the vents, only had one.

    Your work is exceptional and the project looks to be Benchmark

    Thanks, Gents;
    We do our best with what we have.
    The Car Door project is entirely self-funded with assistance from a small group of sponsors; and is at, the moment entirely separate from the Museum major funding.
    A considerable amount of funding has been effected from Ex Cotswold Aircraft Restoration Group donated stock which one of the CARG members squirrelled away just prior to the CARG inventory being sold off to various dealers.
    This preserved stock was then donated to the project; and such instrumentation etc, that was relevant to the project was included in the build. The remainder was swapped or sold to acquire further relevant items.
    A few further items have been donated; and some items have had to be replicated from scratch.

    Thanks for sharing these regular Typhoon updates. Excellent work.

    These are exciting times for anyone interested in the Typhoon and Tempest, with so many projects helping to bring these types back into the limelight again.
