Sri Lanka is under tremendous pressure from India not to buy JF17. They have even been offered financial support to buy any other fighter.

Chinese/Pakistani aircraft, probably needing Chinese/Pakistani support, in Sri Lanka? Need you ask? Think about Ireland during the Cold War considering buying fighters from the USSR, complete with Soviet technicians, trainers, etc., & what the British government would have thought of it.

Sources said two US-2i would be imported first, off-the-shelf, while the other 10 would be manufactured in India, under technology transfer arrangements by ShinMaywa Industries with an Indian partner.
