    Rockets Red Glare

How about a thread solely devoted to planes launching rockets and missiles?

Chris Gibson's Vulcan's Hammer book has some nice photos of the Blue Steel missile hung under both the Vulcan and the Victor.

P.S I just can't get enough of the Blue Steel missile, my favorite Cold War weapon.

Could we have details of the aircraft and missile fired? Or is that pushing things? What is the protocol?

I always add where possible to the photo, Right click & save as --"F-4BPhantomIIofNavySquadronVF-111TheSundownersispicturedlaunchingmissiles"
    Which is a "Sparrow".

That looks as though it's going in the drink rather than anywhere useful.

It's extremely difficult to estimate altitude when over water without any reference point, whatsoever.

I was going by the angle of the smoke trail to the aircraft. The other reason it could appear that way of course would be if it was turning away from the aircraft. Given the lack of any fore or aft aspect to the shot it's hard to figure out which it's doing.
