It was announced a couple of months ago by Tom Horton that any merger would retain the AA brand. If the merger does go ahead it will be a shame, I always have liked US Airways.

I'm assuming that if the deal did get the go-ahead then US would be merged into AA, seeing as they have just unveiled a brand new corporate image and livery?
And the merger itself would not be a major problem as US has always been seen as the "under-dog" of what used to be "big Six" (AA, DL, CO, NW, UA, US).
In terms of slots at LHR, US only have x2 pairs for their daily PHL and their newly announced daily CLT, which replaces their flights to/from LGW (ends 29th March 2013).
