Now --------------- how about the most beautiful planes.

I nominate the A-5 Vigilante, especially the early models without the hump back. They looked like they were doing mach 2 sitting still on the ground.

I could never choose a single aircraft that is more beautiful than another becouse as an artist i see them in a different light all the time.. I have to say though that the Delta wing design has probably produced the most number of elegant aircaft based around that shape, Even the ones with canards

I don't know why every brit thinks the spitfire is the best looking plane ever. Oh wait the answer lies withing the question.

Even amongst WWII fighters many planes look way better, with the FW190D & Ta152 series, every P40 bar the F model, the P51A, the Corsair, the La5FN/7 & Yak 3/9, or for english planes the mosquito, the tempest, the seafury...

Anyway here's my take:

my vote goes to the F-15e or
historical the Mosquito and C-47/DC-3...

I dig the Yak-3! Very handsome at la Ferté-Alais last year even though the Sea Fury stole the show.

Wanted to add Concorde, SR71 and Draken but they are all taken.

The draken with SR71 flying together would be the most perfect combo evar.

As well as those already listed I've always like Soviet Bombers like the Tu-160 "White Swan" and although it was a flawed design I've always thought the Blinder was a real looker. Ironically it nearly got the ASCC codename of "Beauty!"

Strange, no body thinks Flanker is beautiful. IMHO it is one of the coolest looking ones, especially the one with canards. Some beautiful angles:

Flankers are really good looking, but they arent as clean and elegant like many others.

As stated in a scientific post in the other thread there is a difference between being cool and elegant.

The SR71, Draken, YF23 and possibly Spitfire are all very streamlined designs that are surprisingly clean.

But I do agree SR-71 and Draken can be the coolest of all time. However if KFX latest design do manage to become reality, this's can be considered cool too.
