BEA Vickers Vanguard interior

Hi

I am new to this forum, but was wondering if anyone could help me, I am trying to find photos of the interior of the passenger compartments on the Vickers Vanguard preferably BEA layout

I think your best bet would be the Vanguard team at Brooklands Museum

It is run but Vanguard enthusiasts some of whom worked on the type

They have extensive records and photographs of all aspects of the type and should have what your need.

Is this for modelling?

I have already emailed Julian at Brooklands but they can take a while to get back with the information, so I thought I would try here as well. It is for modeling as I have a 1/72 vacform kit of the Vanguard that I shall be building and would like to show some detail of the interior, as the cabin doors will be open

The ones I recall flying in all had marroon red seats and carpets, I'm sure. Probably white seat backs? And I recall some dodgy 1960's 'wallpaper' on bulkheads?

Not sure. But I think so!

Am I that old???

The model is by Gene Hooker, looking at the vacform I have it is very accurate with the scale drawing I have I think it may of been taken from a travel agent model as it has no props or undercarriage, and the plastic is quite thin, if you want the address I shall have to see if I can find it, the model cost me with postage about £43

if you look on the third page on the britmodeller link someone has posted the photos of it
I am going to use the Aeroclub Bristol Britannia props and modify these to the right size, I will have to go back to Brooklands again and measure the wheels and scale these to 1/72.

I do have some Vanguard plans scanned in in bits to use for a Flight Simulator model I can send to you if it helps at all for the details like undercarriage.

I am planning to go to Brooklands in a couple of weeks time, I have already 100's of photos of the Vanguard when I went their last time, but need to take some more measurements of certain things as I don't like to take everything from a scale drawing

The plans I have actually have details of the UC legs and panel lines some of which are only on production Vanguards and some only on the prototype. The plans have details for the Vickers original livery and the early BEA Red Square as they date from before the second Vickers and large BEA tail Square.

They have some measurements on the plans.

I couldn't scan the whole lot in so they are in bits but if you want I can send them to you as in conjunction with your other info and visit might give you enough.
