Question for anyone who knows - were the MiG-31s operated by the Naval Aviation transferred over to the AF?

    Wot ?? - no Flanker records ??

The P-42 variant took no less than 27 Time-to-Climb records from the F-15 'Streak Eagle' between 1986 & 1988.

    Most are still extant.

Surely worth a mention on the RIAN chart ??

It seems like MiG is back in black

Net income MiG in 2011 amounted to more than 1.8 mldr.rub. (Previous year the society has completed its work with a loss of 1.6 mldr.rub.)

Sorry, couldn't find a separate PAK-DA thread. RIA Novosti report:

PAK-DA takes shape - says RuAF commander

They probably ran out of space to put more of the achievements (or the 'page' already got too long) and hence settled for the above list (?).... a better one would have been to present it as multimedia like the one for Chernobyl accident

by upgrade, does it mean significant upgrade to new standards with new equipments or just regular repair job and paint?

The upgrade is basically a scaled up one that Gefest did on the Su-24M. Cheap but effective supposedly.

Wow great pic! Helicopter base, Ka-52s, Mi-24s, Mi-8s, and a Su-25UB taking of.

    EDIT:
"В этом году планируется поступление еще 15 самолетов Як-130", - уточнил он, добавив, что самолет очень современный и перспективный... Говоря подробнее о теме подготовки будущих летчиков, Виктор Бондарев отметил, что в этом году для ВВС планируется набор 150 курсантов.

Another 15 Yak-130s are planned for induction this year.

Different. It will probably resemble quite closely MQ-1 Predator and is developed by Tranzas(taking care of the electronics) and Sokol(airframe). I think there is also in development(by the same companies) a heavier strike drone weighing as much as 5000kg, but it will be closer to 2020 before that comes to reality.

This is very intersting, about the Gefest & T Su-24M upgrade. Apparently after 8.8.8 war MOD looked at Su-24M operations, and rejected further Su-24M2 (Sukhoi) upgrades (of which there are at least 24 in the Far East, and potentially as many as 48, not sure what actual figure is), and decided to go with further upgrades by Gefest. Up till now there are only around 5 of so Gefest Su-24s @ Lipetsk, but according to this the plane is already in service with 3 separate military okrugs.

Also a nice vid of Tu-22M3s getting ready for 100 years of VVS celebration. Decent footage of Tupolevs at high speed and low alt, and taking off with AB roaring.

Twower visited Ivanovo, flew on A-50U. More pics + video coming, so far posted this:

Pretty shocking that MOD allowed him to even go on the plane, let alone photograph it.

One official was recently asked during a briefing about the number of upgraded Su-24's so far. He said "dozens" but refused to give exact figures

I asked on the BMPD blog, the guy is pretty informative - he estimates around 50 airframes, not including Su24M2! That is very good news, the upgrade maybe modest but is badly needed.

Why “shocking”? Is it not reasonable to assume that the Russian authorities are competent enough to decide what unclassified access to new defence hardware it is safe to allow?

Why? Zvezda had nice in flight footage of it (from inside) when it was delivered.

Shocking because the MOD often refuses photos of cockpits of aircraft like say the MiG-31BM, and suddenly allowed huge resolution photo reports of something secretive like A-50U.

And by shocking I meant surprising (what, you think I don't want the photos ), not that it is a bad idea.

Well there aren't that many pics floating around with Mig-31BM cocpits.
I'd like to see some pics of the system operators in the Tu-22M3 as well

There Is a good reason that there are not that many pics around. Russian MoD Press and media restriction are very much at work here.

Anyway, give them credit for softening up the latest years.

    PAK DA prototype already 2020?

The Russian Air Force may receive its first PAK DA next generation long-range bomber about 2020 instead of 2025 as initially planned, Russia’s acting deputy Air Force commander, Major General Alexander Chernyayev, has said.

“I think the first models of the Prospective Air Complex for Long Range Aviation (PAK DA) will be supplied to the Air Force approximately by 2020,” Chernyayev said in an interview published on the Russian Defense Ministry website late last week.

Russia's Long Range Aviation commander, Major General Anatoly Zhikharev, has said the Air Force could receive the new strategic bomber in 2025.

The general look of the new strategic bomber has already been worked out, and engineers are currently finishing work on aircraft specific operational requirements, Chernyayev said.

“We have everything today to develop the plane on time and put it into operation together with [Tupolev] Tu-95MS Bear, Tu-160 Blackjack and Tu-22M3 Backfire [strategic bombers], which have proven their high reliability,” he added.

Bombers are like civil airlines. It does not take that much flying prototypes like 5G fighter. and weopon integration can done after entering service. it is not high g weopon realease.
