Rostvertol getting ready to hand over 4 Mi-28Ns to RuAF. Airbase likely to be Korenovsk; these are the first of the type built for the RuAF in 2012.

so we can expect to finally see a Tu-204 based patrol aircraft. Good. This would have happened earlier if IN had gone for it instead of the P8I.

Depends what they want , Tu-214 would likely replace the Tu-142M if they plan to replace that for now but SSJ-100 will be a good replacement for IL-38N , with additional fuel in special configuration they can easily fly for 5 plus hours atleast.

Tu-214SUS in special configuration have endurance of 14 hours unrefulled and i read they have been tested with 13 hours of non-stop flying.

SSJ should make a decent replacement for IL-38 while Tu-214 can replace the Tu-142M.

    @ Autsin,

Yes, Tu-214 have demonstrated its capability and it has to be rightful successor to IL-38 & Tu-142 even though it wont be able to match the Tu-142s in range. But Payload wise and range, Tu-204 based aircraft looks like the better option.

I don't know why they are even considering the SSJ-100. There is no SSJ-100-90 (hope designation is correct) or the long-ranged version of SSJ-100 in any physical form yet. Even if it does exist, it is too far below the capability of Tu-204 which can carry in excess of 24+ tons of payload.

SSJ won't make a good replacement of the IL-38s, they have much greater ranger with their payload than what SSJ can offer.

I suspect that its again the case of Sukhoi's political hand that is doing the behind the scene work to push it down the service throat and increase upon their orders and profit.

Btw, the original designation of Tu-214 is Tu-204-200 and Tu-204-120 is meant for the Tu-204 with RR engines.

    @ haavarla

My personal opinion is negative on the SSJ-100 option. I'd be glad to see it kicked out from the option. Either Tu-204 based or A-40 based.

Its suppose to be a MAI concept. How about something like this for Tu-22M3 replacement?

It looks to have shaped inlet, and flat nozzles in addition to the seemingly large weapons bay between the engine inlets.

2 x 25T engines would be fine. Any more info?

Not really Russian, but sad news nonetheless.
TAPO is going to cease aircraft production.

Ahem. That one is not flying, and will never fly again. And there is plenty other 9.12's in service, that actually flies.

It`s a vinyl sticker, probably caring students..... I agree, it doesnt seem to be flightworthy judging from the appearance and wear, the 9.12 with 20year lifetime should look overhauled in 2012....

    Thanks for the links mack8.

It looks like there already some structural mods to the 'Hellducks' - on the starboard fin and near the canard mounts.
