Does any one know about the status of upgrading Mi-24? Thanks!
Apparently the number of flying Su-27s in the UkAF is 16.
Less than I expected tbh.
That upgrade sounds dead. The current one is a bare-modernization, more of a full overhaul plus a crude laser-rangefinder installation. Oh the upside engine are new. The first example is undergoing testing right now.
Yep, the French deal is dead.
These guys are usually fairy accurate.

As most know, several years ago the entire Russian MiG-29 fleet was grounded and checked for weakened tails; the troubled airframes received a patch to fix the issue and returned to service.
Apparently Ukraine followed suite, and discovered similar issues. At least some of the birds (the recently overhauled ones) received basically an identical "patch".
Ukrainian L-39s in the new scheme. This year 16 planes are supposed to be overhauled and modernized
Speculation about the upgrade.

<Find a job you like doing, and you'll never have to work a day in your life>
I am looking for pictures of ukrainaian planes, which wear early type insignia - blue outside. If somebody has, please share it.
"Значительно улучшилась ситуация с подготовкой летного состава - сегодня средний налет на одного летчика составляет более 30 часов, а молодые летчики имеют до 25 часов налета, - подчеркнул генерал-лейтенант Юрий Байдак."
Average flight hours per pilot is more than 30, and young pilots have up to 25 hours of flight time.
"Для сравнения, в 2011 году только четыре молодых пилота освоили боевые самолеты, а в этом году таких уже 17. Кроме того, пятеро из них уже заступили на боевое дежурство."
In 2011 only 4 (!!!) young pilots mastered combat aircraft, this year the number is already 17. 5 of them are already on combat readiness.
More details(in English) on the L-39 modernization.
The modernized cockpit.
The Ukrainians could have made a pretty penny on the Soviet aircraft overhaul/upgrade market but that opportunity has mostly passed.
Nice photo of MiG-29 in the digi-camo.
At this point I am curious why they are not rationalizing MiG-29/Su-27 fleet to one type; though I imagine they have the means (both spares and in-country overhaul) of supporting small numbers of both for years to come.
