Could it be a leftover from that surge last year? ( the different coloured nozzle inside). I'll see if i can find pics from same angle taken after MAKS.

Btw , regarding Griffon39's post , on the contrary , Putin is ALL the russian air force needs . In case you haven't noticed , the rejuvenation of the Russian air force ( and Russian military as a whole), new purchases , new projects , modernisations , ALL happened during Putin's reign , or when he was a prime minister.

I believe with his secret service background , he understands very well the importance of airpower , hence his special interest for PAK-FA.

I for one was chewing my nails waiting for the vote! There's no alternative for russian leadership now, if russian is to get back to being a major , powerful world player, it needs Putin.

    PAK-FA needs Putin.

You have reached this conclusion how? Realize this: Spotters are humans too. They need money, and food. Shelter is also nice thing to have. They don't live in a shack outside Zhuk just to satisfy an user named "Dark".

Its too far out, till the end of the decade .
$100m target may not be achievable in 2020.

Posted it in the last page. You have to follow Ajai Shukla for a while to sieve off useful info from his articles.

It hasn't 'declined', it isn't growing just as fast as expected.

On one hand it is good, because by that time lots of things would have matured.
The missiles would have been mature. The propulsion would be the Gen next engines. AESA would have been mature and probably with new semiconductor materials. Avionics would be mature. And probably would have been remedied against EMP of 21st December 2012 superflare from the Mayan hall of fame. But it is really far away. On the other hand in that time frame the aggressor may no longer be the F22s or F35s but some lifeless drone piloted by some gamer freak half way round the earth.

I still beleived in piloted aircraft...
with UCAV/piloted drone.... one huge jammer aircraft and all your drones are dead or even turned against you.....

Piloted at least for the next one and half decade if not more, . But if you see the trend, lots of American research is directed towards autonomous operation. Which means if Communication is compromised the thing operates on its own based on a set of predefined rules of engagement or simply return home.
I am sure in 15 years time the X47Bs and offsprings will be supersonic with even more endurance and capability. The Jihad business is going to be a bit more challenging. Anyway, the unfortunate part is it will be soo long until we see a fully matured PAK FA/FGFA. In these times of austerity we surely miss the Cold War when multiple fighter designs and bombers and ICBMs and Subs get churn out from the factories like candy.
Had it been the cold war, we would have had so many pics uploaded here. Of course some of us might get weird parcels from some agency, or may go on permanent vacation and so on.

Sukhoi favored another innovative approach – 85 percent of the surface of PAK FA is covered with unique coating made of nano-particle materials that decrease the visibility of the plane. (In addition, this coating is also said to offer extra benefit in drag reduction).

    PAK-FA latest:

двойка летает регулярно...на этой неделе была крайняя работа.. копейка в процессе сборки... а вот с трёшкой всё гораздо туманнее

    http://aviaforum.ru/showpost.php?p=1105534&postcount=59

'52' flies regularly...this week they were extremely busy…'51' is in the process of being assembled….and then there's '53' about which everything is really unclear.
Could be good news about '51', maybe they resolved the structural issues without having to send it back to KnAAPO.

Ilya Fyodorov interview about the Stage 2 engine (though nothing new to add since the 'Engines 2012 Expo' and already detailed earlier this thread):

Not "extremely busy" but more like the latest flight/flights were this week.

Or is this now at Zhukovsky ?

    Deino
    ...

He was my North, my South, my East and West,
My working week and my Sunday rest,
    My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song;
I thought that love would last forever; I was wrong.

The stars are not wanted now; put out every one:
    Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun;
Pour away the ocean and sweep up the woods:
For nothing now can ever come to any good.

    Berkut, you're a star.

Now looking at the other 3 pictures , i can't really make the bort , my eyes are either telling me "053" or even something ending in "1" on another pic. Could it have been PS-ed out before posting ( just like the first grey Su-34s)?

I think you are seeing things. :P I don't think bort number has been applied yet. That was implied by a comment for the first pic someone made ala "pilot should have opened the canopy and showed a sign with "53" on it"

Ssshhh! It has to be '53'…'cause the mods have removed it from rp.net …..and men in unmarked vehicles have been seen checking Zhukovskii's perimeter fence for suspicious looking *rocks* .

it's 50-3, readily distinguished by absence of nose pitot boom
photos were removed just because pics were out of RP quality standarts

PS Please don't use IMG tags and just give link to RP page with photo - authors will be grateful as it's a matter of correct view count
