It's been yet another good weekend for me at Southend. As is customary, I must start with an Aer Arann ATR42. This time EI-CPT arriving on Sunday morning from Waterford now in the interim Aer Arann scheme.

I also photographed this former Brussels Airline RJ85 which is in storage without titles and decals on the North Apron.

A Izair A320 made a nice photograph in excellent late afternoon light after at least trying some engine runs. It is apparently due to depart shortly for painting at Bournemouth for Atlas Jet.

And finally, although it strictly shouldn't be in this section, I thought I would share a shot of the brand new terminal at Southend Airport which is now complete and ready to open on Tuesday for passenger traffic. A new dawn for Southend, and this impressive building should hopefully serve the airport as well as the old terminal.

As always, I hope these are of interest!

Nice pictures mate.
Hindsight is what you see from the tailgunner's position...
Thanks a lot for your comments EGTC and 27vet.
Very nice shots.
Regards Phil
Excellent photos as usual. I expect you will be sending in shots of Easyjet's 319's next month!
Thanks a lot Phil.
Gooney Bird, yes there will be plenty of easyJet A319 shots in due course, at least when they are still a novelty. Having said that, it's almost been a year and I'm still not bored of the Aer Arann ATRs.
Hopefully therre will be some greater variety of passenger traffic in the future.

Aeropics, I totally agree. You can never get bored watching propliners! They have so much more character!
Watching the programme about Stanstead this week, I noticed one of the regular Southend "swivels" talking to the police. Fame for him at last.![]()
As an aside, I was amused by the Izair A320.
With "WWW" on the front and dropping on the the Z's, it sounds similar to Wizzair!
