    PAF F-7PG crashes. Pilot killed.

    PAF F-7PG crashes

ISLAMABAD, 8 FEB: A China-made Pakistan air force jet today crashed while on a routine training mission in southwestern Balochistan province, killing the pilot.
“A F-7PG PAF fighter aircraft, while on a routine training mission, crashed 24 nautical miles north of Quetta (the capital of Balochistan),” a PAF statement said. The pilot was killed in the crash, the statement said.

“No loss to civilian life or property on ground has been reported,” it said. The PAF ordered an official inquiry to determine the cause of the accident. The Chinese-made aircraft came down near Pishin, 50 km from Quetta, shortly after taking off from an airbase, TV news channels reported.

This was the fourth air force jet to crash in three months, media reports said. Two pilots were killed in recent accidents and a helicopter crash in June last year killed four military personnel.

Indonesia’s ‘Air Force One’. Boeing handed over Boeing Business Jet 2 (BBJ) to the Indonesian government to use as a presidential aircraft.

It's still a very early process, thus procurement still long way to go. This is just an assessment process since according to some unconfirmed report (that is local forum ), the Army after operating MI-35 conclude that even-though they like the MI-35 for the simplicity and toughness, but it's lack the advanced technology needed for night and covert operation. Thus they conclude a 'hybrid' operation with MI-35 as workhorse and more advanced gunship as 'escort' needed.

    Google on-line translate:

Russian Air Force Commander, said about the superiority of the PAK FA over the F-22 and J-20.

A comparative analysis of the characteristics of the Russian fifth generation fighter T-50 with the American F-22 and Chinese J-20, we can conclude that the PAK FA is greater than their foreign counterparts on indicators such as maximum speed (as afterburner ) maximum range, thrust, the magnitude of the maximum realizable overload "- said Zelin.

According to Air Force Commander, a Russian prototype is comparable to foreign counterparts in size and weight, but it "has a much smaller quantity run and run" and "looks better" foreign competitors on the characteristics of airborne equipment.

According to the plan of the Ministry of Defence, the PAK-FA should be different from those of the previous generation of aircraft better on-board electronics, the presence of the "electronic pilot" and promising radar with a phased array. Fighter F-22 entered service with the U.S. Air Force in 2005, and the Chinese J-20 is still under development, and its first flight took place in early 2011.

The new Russian aircraft, which is engaged in the development of the company "Sukhoi", combines the functions of the fighter and attack aircraft. At present, the test involved three PAK FA prototype, committed, according to the February 8, more than 120 flights. Later this year, the tests should join the fourth fighter.

I wonder if Selex is putting forward a version of the Vixen? It's shown one with an antenna scaled to the F-16 nose.

Can't see them going for an European radar with three US-made types readily available.

Not so much the failure of the JSF program but rather the failure of the JSF program to deliver enough operational production aircraft to meet demand towards the end of this decade and the start of the next.

Yes the F-35 will go into service but at a slower rate than expected, couple this with demand and the production available and current customers are looking at the middle of the next decade to fulfill their expected orders, those not yet in the market for F-35 will be even further down the pecking order so a systems update of legacy F-16s to F-16V standard will allow them to go for a interim stopgap upgrade whilst they wait for the F-35. Of course it also puts a new block F-16 into the bag for production for those who need or want a new aircraft other than a gripen or Super Hornet

Fascinating ! here they have been talking about how everything but "5th gen'' is obsolete legacy B-class fighters, and are now building yet another variant of the good ole F-16 (or perhaps the old salestrick, 'buy an F-35 & get an F-16 free)
I just hope those fugly CFT aren't part of it
the missile will require about five times the G capability of the target to complete a successful intercept.
