Mystery UK forces mobilisation today 2/2/12?

Hello, I was just wondering if anyone here has any idea what's going on today?

Several chaps I know, all members of the signals have been called at home around 2pm this afternoon and told to report immediately for duty. I have just been on the phone to the wife of one who is pregnant and in pieces worrying. She received a message about a hour ago simply saying -"I now know where I'm going. I can't say, they are about to take mobiles away. I don't know when I'll be back, I love you".

This all just seems strange. The last chap has served in Afghanistan twice, Iraq and west Africa but he has never been unable to tell his wife where he is going or when he'll be home.

I know it's a long shot but has anyone heard any rumours?

Greece perhaps? The government were discussing a few weeks ago contingency plans for if the Euro collapses, including controls on capital, closing all borders and evacuating British nationals from the EU.

Or maybe they are going to sit on the Iraqi or Afghan border whilst SAS ect go on a recon mission in A'stan, though it's unlikely since they have their own signals unit...

Can't think of any others that are particularly likely...

I had wondered if it could be to assist with problems relating to the extreme cold weather in Eastern Europe or maybe the Argies are getting a little over excited with Prince Williams arrival and all?

What's worth remembering is that these guys had only just returned from Afghanistan and were at home on scheduled leave.

The Eastern European have their own forces they could use, and it's not exactly something they would keep quiet! They could be going to Falklands, but nobody is really expecting any problems there, the deployment of the Type 45 is just a routine replacement.

Turns out Cameron was even more upset about the MMRCA loss than he was letting on.

Iran is going to attack some US carrier soon, so it's going to be war. Surprisingly the USS enterprise, on its last tour, and which is to be decommissionned soon is sailing near Iran, and we all know it will cost an arm & a leg to decommission because it carries 7 nuclear reactors. How convenient would it be that Iran attacks it to start the war that some in the US really really want?

You read it here first that a fake attack (a real attack but not launched by Iran) is going to sink USS enterprise.

Curious. A-stan appears to be fairly normal at the moment, a lightning reinforcement of the Falkland Islands as an object lesson is possible but I see unlikely.

Intelligence that a country with lots of British nationals is about to go down the tubes requiring a rescue mission...thats possible. Egypt maybe?

She will in any case be very happy that you are posting this on a public forum thereby alarming every potential enemy that the UK may be coming in

Yeah, I'm sure all eyes of UK enemies are now focused on Key to gather more intelligence. It's in fact their only source of information..
